Khan voted # 1 Jr Welter by Ring fan poll

Who’s the best 140-pounder? The fans say Amir Khan.

As of Thursday afternoon, 60.2 percent of the voters in the new weekly RingTV Poll say the quick-handed Briton tops the deep junior welterweight division.

Timothy Bradley was No. 2 at 27.1 percent, followed by Marcos Maidana at 11.7 and Devon Alexander at 1.

Khan, coming off a unanimous-decision victory over Maidana in the Boxing Writers Association of America Fight of the Year, is still seeking an opponent for April 16 in the UK. Former 140-pound titleholder Junior Witter reportedly is the latest to emerge as a possibility.

Bradley outpointed Alexander on Jan. 29 in a fight that stopped prematurely after a series of head butts rendered Alexander unable to see.

Khan and Bradley could remove any doubt about who is the best in the division by fighting one another, which is being discussed.

Bradley by way of facing the divisions best is the #1 guy, however Khan is certainly the more gifted fighter.

There won't be a true #1 until they both square off.

This is why can't leave rankings and stuff up to fans. If they did, Pac would been voted Fighter of the Year over Martinez, since he won the fangirl poll by a landslide

i voted for kahn in that poll..i think overall hes the better fighter..if bradley had won the poll id be ok with that also..the top 2 in that division as of now is the clear choice by the fans and perhaps the sports media..

See while I really like Khan I would pick Bradley in that fight.

Based on his fight against Maidana, I can't see why Khan-tucky fried chicken would be voted #1, boxing fans are just fickle. If i'd have voted, it would have been for Bradley, at least he didn't get bounced around the ring and nearly KO'd by Alexander, like Khan-tucky did against Maidana.

That's why it should be decided in the ring, not in any poll.

BS poll, Bradley is the best fighter at the weight class, even though Khan might be a little more talented.

Khan has been promoted better, has two fan bases now that he's with Roach and is as well known for being KO'd as he is for winning. Bradley just keeps winning baby!!!

Bradleys record is pretty amazing for how much fights he already has. Witter (2 ranked at the time jr WW), Campbell (former undesputed champ at LW), Miguel Vazquez (current LW strap holder), Holt (coming off a huge KO win over Torres) Peterson, Alexander and Abrego (all undefeated).

Khan has been matched up wisely until he had to full fill his madatory against Maidana.

DAMN he is a super heavyweight.

It's not surprising that the most talented guy whose been in the more exciting fights recently and has the biggest fan base won a fan poll.

Just pointing out Bradley has been hurt in the division too.

If I recall right, Bradley got knocked down in the Holt fight, but unlike Khan-tucky fried in the Maidana fight, he was never in danger of being KTFO, or wobbling around like the ring like a drunken sailor.

Holt has 14 career KO's in 30 pro fights. Maidana has 27 in 31. Id say Maidana hits harder than Holt. Maidana also has more notable victories and has fought better opposition. He's better than Holt who knocked Bradley down twice.

You make some very solid points HardcoreRealChestSituation. I don't disagree but I do feel Holt is still a dangerous puncher, those stats don't do him justice at all. Holt's a very lanky Jr Welterweight who throws some nasty left hooks and straight rights, he's just very inconsistent and has had alot of issues with the law.

Overall Maidana is the heavier handed but Holt's better at setting up shots with his jab.

I agree. Stats don't always tell the story. Holt is one these clowns that sinks to the level of his opposition. I've seen him in too many fights were could take his bum opponent out, but didn't, because he just didn't care. Like just going through motions, just wanting a paycheck.

Why other countries are dominating. US fighters have become nothing but slackers for the most fight.
