Paul Williams vs Kermit Cintron II ??

good fight.hopefully no controversy if they meet again..the winner moves foward the loser takes a backword step if its a ko..a close hardfought fight gives future possibiltes to both in a possitive way.

Excellent....this fight needs to happen.

this fight would end Williams' career and Goosen would be mad to put him in gainst him. William's needs a Yuri Foreman type opponent. somebody who has no chance of checking that chin again. Regardless of how Williams has spoke about that KO loss, that memory will never leave his mind. it was a career wrecker and Williams needs to be moved at the right pace before a fight like Cintron. Cintron does deserve his rematch though and i hope it is a fight we see in the future, just think the tming is all wrong for Williams

With Peterson, likely that he walks into a Cintron right hand and is dropped again

Please god let this fight happen. Cintron was landing bombs in the first fight before it ended in disappointment. Their styles almost guarantee that Williams will get knocked out again.

You guys are writing off Williams too easily. Cintron is not the fighter that Maravilla is, he proved that. PW & Kermit are pretty evenly matched, Cintron is strong, but not as skilled as some others. This will be a good fight. I doubt PW gets KO'd like before, that was a bit of an anomaly in his career. Unless, of course, you're of the "Exposed" generation!!!

I thought Williams would have been knocked out by Cintron had the fight continued before he ever got knocked out by Martinez. It looked like the fight was heading in that direction to me.

you're getting me wrong about Paul Williams. i think he still has the ability to have an even more successful career than that he has enjoyed already, i just think he needs an easier fight than Cintron as a comeback for that to happen after such a humbling defeat regardless of how good Martinez is.

Their first fight was actually starting to get really good before the circus incident. PW may be horrible technically but he is a very fun fighter to watch if he gets going. This has the potential to be a decent action fight I just hope they have it somewhere where they can get more than 5 people in the building..

I just wouldnt be surprised if Cintron was able to hurt/ko him coming off the Martinez loss

I agree that it was starting to get really good. Cintron was timing Williams with the right hand and Williams was really starting to let his hands go before the somersault. Probably the most disappointed I was all last year besides when Mosley couldn't finish Floyd.

I'd take it one further than a Yuri Foreman type. I'd line up a couple of guys with no power like Foreman (who aren't a pretty decent boxer like Foreman), and I'd have PW take them on in rapid succession. Have 2 confidence building fights in the matter of 3 months. Get his confidence back.

As for a future trainer, PW should get Manny Steward. Yes, he'd just teach him how to jab and stay on the outside, but that would serve him best at 154 or 160.

Thats the way I saw that fight as well. I thought Cintron was well on his way to a nice KO victory when all the odd stuff occurred. PW needs to shy away from Cintron. He gains nothing by fighting him again.

im not sure i agree with the message being relayed in these posts here..williams should fight first a foreman type guy only of lesser caliber that cant punch to regain confidence..2.williams maybe should fight two easy journeymen at best to regain condidence.williams should avoid citron..firstr who said paul williams has lost his confidence..i think hes still confident in his abilty ...second because you suffer a bad knockout your either all done cause you cant recover from that memory..total nonsence..patterson was brutaly koed by ingo and fought him next and scored a brutal ko win..what about joe louis after the trashing he got over 12 rounds from schmelling..graziano and zale...did tommy hearns ever lose confidence after being koed by hagler..his career after that continued to the point weere he became lineral LH champ..after foreman lost to ali he fought lyle not a can who could not punch.
this is a common unfound arguement by many not only fans but some ill advised boxing people also...paul williams has confidence in his abilty and dont need to fight a can or a guy that cant punch cause paul knows he can win that fight with ease..
what message does it say to paul is that were going to match you up with a guy with calderon power ranked in the area of 50-75 in the world.
williams needs to learn how to take advantage of his reach with a tommy hearns jab..he needs to learn how to load up on his punches with leverage cause the guy can hit but not to maximum potential..he needs to learn how not to lean in with his chin..to fight tall..
training on thoses shortcomings untill its routine..yes a new trainer or a change in that trainers outlook and philosophy..
theres noo better fight then citron for williams to do that with..sweet victory over unfinished business is a confidence builder if he needs one and i doubt it...

Cintron should train with WWE before the fight, just in case
