David Lemieux vs Marco Antonio Rubio ordered by the WBC
As part of it's recent annual conference held in Cancun, Mexico, the WBC sanctioned a final eliminator between current WBC International champion David Lemieux (24-0-0) and Mexico's Marco Antonio "El Veneno" Rubio (48-5-1). However, as the two sides are not able to agree on the place and date for this fight, the WBC's office this morning informed the parties involved to hold a purse bid on January 7, 2011 in Mexico City.
Recall that after the announcement of the eliminator, Groupe Yvon Michel had proposed an offer to the Rubio clan for a battle in Quebec in February or April. Rubio's side returned with counter-offers and instead wanted the fight in Mexico.
"We will still try to convince the promoter of Rubio to come here but if we fail, we will carefully prepare to win this auctiob," said President of GYM Yvon Michel, in response to the letter signed by the President of the WBC, Jose Sulaiman.
David Lemieux will have his next fight on December 3 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, as part of the series "Fast & Furious." He has a scheduled fight with American journeyman Purnell "Knock You Out" Gates (18-1-0). As for Marco Antonio Rubio, his last fight was back on August 21, when he successfully defended his WBC belt against Jose Luis Zertuche (21-6-3).

Not a bad fight for Lemiuex.
Wasnt Rubio one of the victims to Kelly Pavlik's glorious middeweight run?

Yes, I can't remember if he quit or the fight was stopped due to cuts.

Pavlik fucked this guy up after his loss to Hopkins. Rubio was his comeback fight and second defense.

Rubio is a tough out for most guys. Lemieux has the makings of an elite fighter and should have the skills to blow him out in the late rounds.
