Is it time the UFC expanded their divisions?
With all the current divisions basically minus Lightweight and Heavyweight having dominant champions is it time the UFC expanded their divisions and made it easier for guys like GSP and Anderson to move up a division when they have cleaned out their current ones and for guys like Hendo and Vitor to have a proper division?
My idea would be to have 12 divisions-
115- Paperweight*
125- Flyweight
135- Bantamweight
145- Featherweight
155- Lightweight
165- Light-Welterweight
175- Welterweight
185- Middleweight
195- Super-Middleweight
205- Light-Heavyweight
215- Cruiserweight
225- Super-Cruiserweight*
265- Heavyweight
* Only 1 of these 2 weight classes would make it.

No its one of the good things about the sport. You dont want the issues boxing has. Besides I really dont think MMA has enough depth.

Boxing is different though as each division has about 5 titles and the best fighters never fight each other. There is no one left for GSP and Anderson to fight and soon there will be no one for Jon Jones. At least having a few more divisions would create a few more stars and since it's only 10 pounds guys like GSP, Anderson and Jones can move up a division.

See I view it as diluting the divisions which would cause bigger problems with finding good comp. It would be good for one fight but then what?freakzilla wrote:Boxing is different though as each division has about 5 titles and the best fighters never fight each other. They need to and are adding Flyweight. The only other one I could possibly go for is one between Heavy and Light-Heavy. It is a big gap. If they add that "Cruiser" division, they could also uncap heavy.

I hate Cruiserweight above Light HW because it's redundant. Light Heavyweight means just that, a light heavyweight. Cruiser means the exact same thing. Cruiser is the second heaviest ship in a navl fleet.
200- Super-Middleweight
220- Light-Heavyweight
221- Heavyweight
If you can't make 220 then you are likely already a huge guy fighting at 240 plus pounds.

Maybe a super HW? But they shouldn't mess up their weight classes.
