LOS ANGELES (AP) — Whitney Houston, who reigned as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died. She was 48.

Publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown.

I like her music and thought she was talented. Drugs ruined her career though. It's sad she's gone but it's no surprise. Very talented lady who will be missed.

I agree with Freak. This woman was not a victom. If anything, she was a very talented by pathetic woman. She stayed with a loser like Brown who repeatidly beat her and abused drugs and gloated about it. "I didn't do crack, crack is cheap, only poor people do crack."

I guess so Whitney. How you blew over 100 million dollar fortune and was broke when you died.

Houston's drug use always gets blamed on Brown, but I doubt that he forced her to take them, she did it willingly. I'm with freakzilla, i've got no sympathy for dope-heads, especially rich and famous ones. Good riddance.

BTW, I never cared for her singing either.

Like a lot of other people her drug abuse was a symptom - the real disease was mental illness. There's far too little discussion of that and far too few resources available for people who struggle with it; so they look for help or relief wherever it can be found.

I'm not so sure it's a mental illness, more like making bad choices, or just plain stupidity. Drugs and alcohol when done to excess can turn an otherwise intelligent/normal person into a train wreck. In Houston's case, she wasn't too fucking smart to begin with, and the drugs/alcohol just turned her into a delusional, self-destructive basket-case.
