You sounds silly, but it does make sense. Shit like ping-pong keeps the reflexes sharp. I know a lot of athletes like baseball players and goalkeepers play hand-ball as part of their training drills, because it's nothing but hand-eye coordination.

Anderson Silva trains with a tennis ball, gets his trainer to throw it at him to sharpen his reflexes.
