Rios vs Murray confirmed for MSG

Brandon Rios will defend his WBA Lightweight Championship on December 3rd when he makes a voluntary defence against Manchester's John Murray. Murray is coming off the back off his first defeat where he was stunningly knocked out by Kevin Mitchell who was coming off the back off his first professional defeat (a KO loss to Michael Katsidis).

This will be Murray's third fight under new promoter Frank Warren's watch. it seems to me as if Warren is ready to cash in on Murray by sending him over to be used as a punchbag by Rios. against Mitchell, Murray adopted his usual reckless tactics of just walking into a brawl. this is all Murray will ever do. i've watched Murray's recent outings and he looks more shopworn everytime out. Murray has also decided to ditch his long time trainer Joe Gallagher after his KO defeat to Mitchell. i think this is another seriously detrimental decision to be making at this stage of his career.

I think this is career suicide for John Murray and i think Warren has realised that Murray is nearly spent as a fighter because of too many hard fought wars and too many times having to boil his frame down to make the lightweight limit. nobody can question Murray's heart, but his decision making can be questioned. Murray is not a smart enough fighter to adapt to beat a guy like Rios. Rios is too big, too strong and too ferocious and he will brutally KO Murray. however it should be fun whilst it lasts because they both like to have a tear up

Yup, Frank Warren never sends one of his fighters to the US unless he's cashing them out

loses a tough fight and then coming over to fight Rios. Cashing out is the only way to put it.
