The Time Machine Thread
I stole this idea from another site but I thought it would be fun to do here.
If you had a time machine and could transport any boxer to another era, who would transport, to what era, and why?

Re: The Time Machine Thread
There's the obvious Tyson v. Marciano or Ali v. Louis (or any combination of those four) but I want to send Prince back to fight Willie Pep.

Cool idea. It'd be funny to see Floyd go back and get whooped by Sugar Ray (either one, but especially Robinson).
Other than that (and Gumby's heavyweight foursome) - I'd be interested in seeing a turn of last century guy like Jack Johnson or Jim Corbett take on a modern heavy, like say Lennox or a Wlad.

Re: The Time Machine Thread
All boxers today (besides that dinasour Hopkins) wouldnt make it in the 80s or even 90s (or anytime before that). Fighters now depend soley on how they are managed. Fighters can go up weight classes and win straps without fighting the best man in the division while building a name for themselves (Pac, DLH and Floyd for example). Its rare that these guys fight top competition very often like they did in the past. I read this at ESPN and I agree, and its boxing has became a chickenfied sport. Both Sugar Rays kill Floyd, Chavez destroys Pacquiao, Fenito Lopez put up a clinic on Segura, Tyson man handles the Klitschko brothers, Pryor runs through Bradley and Khan.

I'd pit Pryor against Tszyu & Pac at 140, Floyd vs Hearns, & Duran vs anybody. Just for fun I'd bring Foreman in to take on both Klitschko's in one night.

So what fight would you want to see?

In general I agree, which is a sad statement on the sport.
The only one I'm not sure about in that list is Tyson and the Klits - their size and style are exactly right for handling Tyson, like like Lennox did. And you can't really say the Klits are avoiding anyone at heavy - there's just no one there.

I'd take Jack Dempsey and throw him into todays HW division. Yes, I'm a sadist

Battle of the boring ass fighters with a great jab good power in the right and no damn chin. Those two are almost the same fighter.Ali wrote:Wladimir Klitschko vs Lennox Lewis
Re: The Time Machine Thread
I have two.
I want to see Michael spinks moved to the 1995-2005 era. Then we could see him fight Glen Johnson, Tarver, Roy and others.
Next I would love Pernell Whitaker moved into todays. How awesome would a possible Floyd or Pac fight be?

Unleash Prime Sonny Liston, George Foreman and Mike Tyson on today's heavyweights until only 1 is standing.
Hopkins to the 80's was a good 1 as mentioned in another post.
Evander Holyfield to the 30's.

I think you are confusing handling himself with going undefeated. Most likely he loses to all those guys you listed but at most 2 of those guys fought in the same division at the same time. I think Pac is a live underdog to the first 3 but loses convincingly to the GOAT.

Also we need to remember Pac is smaller than all those guys. Pac is not a Welter or even a light welter. But also I think he would beat Pryor and the Duran vs Pac fight would be unbelievable. Pea vs Pac is a toss up but SRR would kill him.
