Kelly Pavlik vs Darryl Cunningham on Aug 6th ??

BoxingScene.com has been advised that super middleweight contender Darryl Cunningham (23-2, 10KOs) is seriously being considered as the opponent for former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (37-2, 32KOs) on August 6th in Youngstown, Ohio. Pavlik's hometown return will be televised by Showtime. Pavlik is taking an August tuneup in preparation for a possible November fight with IBF champion Lucian Bute.

If his timing isn't better than the last fight his shot against Bute is 0%. Kieran (I believe it was him) was doing the chat for the fight for ESPN and said that someone in the arena (matchmaker for one of the promotional companies) told him after the Pavlik fight that Pavlik's timing was completely gone.
It did appear to be horrible to me. He had no sense when the opponent was going to punch. Even when he got going his timing was till mediocre.

Never heard of him but he looks to be a not completely useless southpaw. I find him to be an acceptable ring rust fight with the possible future fights Kelly has.

Yup. How the fuck is beating up a bum like Cunningham get you ready to fight Bute? The fight probably won't even last 3 rounds. So how's that going to get the ring rust off?
