Mayweather sued for another assult

Let me get this right, Floyd is being sued for putting his thumbs down ?? It's not like he's a Roman Emperor at the Colosseum.

Civil suit filed. Not a criminal case.

So either this information was never reported to the police, or the prosecutor for Clark County has chosen not to pursue charges.

One of those two occurred, and while the standard of proof in a civil case is preponderance of the evidence (think 51% or more likely than not; so not the onerous burden seen in a criminal case), rather than the beyond a reasonable doubt of a criminal case (think 90% though it is hard to establish a %), I am a bit cynical with regards to this suit.

back to my lawyerly point; if this occurred, wouldn't this kind of action been reported to the police and prosecuted as a criminal matter (even if prosecuted against just the bodyguards that would have slipped out by now)?? This is something that would constitute a crime. Normally I think Floyd did the things reported, but this one sounds like garbage to me.

He probably was man handled by Floyd's muscle monkies, but not to the level he's making it out to be.

Las Vegas police spokesman Jacinto Rivera said that an alleged battery at the Palms involving Mayweather and his entourage was reported, but the case was suspended because witnesses and casino video surveillance did not identify any suspects.

The lawsuit accuses Mayweather of assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligent hiring, training, supervision and retention of employees.



So it was reported. Witnesses and casino video didn't identify any suspects. Not sounding like a strong case, but then again in a civil suit the burden will be lower. But it is hard to win if there are not unbiased witnesses and corroborating video evidence. A case of he said/he said isn't going to win unless there is evidence that can be provided that was not provided to the police.

Of course after Floyd fights Ortiz and earns a huge payday and then is going to fight Pac (assuming it happens), asking Floyd and his bodyguards to settle so that the entire story goes away, isn't a horrible strategy.
