TWO OF TODAYS FIGHTERS THAT SHOULD OF BEEN GREAT Empty TWO OF TODAYS FIGHTERS THAT SHOULD OF BEEN GREAT

im talking about 2 of the top fighters in the world today and used the work of should of been great instead of will be great..the 2 fighters that highly impressed me with there power there skill there ring presence that took me back to the old days of a golden era..im talking about donaire and gamboa.gamboa has unbelievable hand speed with power.still developing yet very skillfull.plenty of the ingrediants in him that shouts possible greatness..why is he a should of been.first hes 29 years old and has had only 20 fights.the number of fights is good for the 4 years or so hes been pro but not for a 29 year old guy..cuba living there of course restricted his pro career..the problem is not that he hasnt fought decent oposition he has nor is the problem not wanting to fight top fighters he will do that..the problem is the way guys are promoted even if its a top promoter.they dont let them fight..look if they dont tie up with any tv people and go to them fight by fight both showtime and hbo would love to have both these guys twice a year.friday night fights yep for a smaller payday would love to have them once for sure..both have starpower written all over them where if handles right by management they could be a gate attraction...donaire is 28 has 27 fights but dam thats over ten years..common thats inactivity since day one..in there true peak how many years do these guys have left.4-5....8-10 fights if politics dont fuck them over and its started allready with donaire...
both these guys should of had a career of true greatness by greatness for the ages standard..unfortunetly we have to settle for greatness of the moment type of thing..promoters management are to blame and i dont care if its arum or GB or the top management folks...its not the fighters in this case..there not paul williams whos new word is NO.nore a floyd who got sidetracted or ducked.its a shame to waste this talent in there prime years like this..there a woulda coulda shoulda instead of a great for the ages..these guys are that good.fighting will increase there performances not fighting will sooner or later dull there performance...its a shame.

I agree, fighters are way too in-active. Gamboa and Donaire should be fighting 4 times a year.

its true. both of these fighters had a ton of potential but are slowly getting older to the age where they will start to decline. donaire rarely fights too. he is only going to have a few fights left to be on the top if he fights at the rate that he is now.

Damn thats sad. There is no reason these guys shouldnt be fighting more often. Why dont fighters just take over their own careers and stop letting these jack ass promoters and "managers" get in the way?

Not just that. They all want big TV money, so they will sit on their ass and be in-active for months waiting for an HBO or Showtime date.

That's the case right now with Martinez. He isn't getting any younger. There is zero reason why he couldn't have taken a fight in the summer and then the HBO fight in the fall.

Dmar right, ESPN or whoever would gladily show the fight for a cheaper rate. But so what, better then being in-active, and it keeps your name out there.

I dont understand why they wait around. Wouldnt you make more money by taking extra fights?

Don't want to risk losing, and jepordize a payday. Also, most fighters today can't draw a crowd. So they realy wouldn't make any kind of real money on a less paying network.

The fighters you see on FNF aren't making any kind of real money. Most of the time, it's the promoter fronting the costs just to get their fighters some TV exposure.

In the past, the money was the gates, So you had to fight more to make money. Now, it's all TV and PPV money

Gamboa isn't a big draw. When you can't make good money from the live gate, you need HBO. So he sits, and sits and sits. He fights and KOs a guy in 4 rounds, he should be fighting again no more than 3 months later. But there aren't tv dates.

I think the problem is most fighters these days only care about making a lot of money and don't care about being great. Hopkins is one guy that I can think of that really seems to want to be great though.
