Good possibility that Mexican star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez could make the first defense of his WBC super welterweight title in Mexico with potential sites being Guadalajara and Puebla and a possible date of June 18. Sources report that Canelo Promotions is still negotiating a venue, but it’s almost confirmed that Alvarez will making their first defense in Mexico. On Tuesday, WBC president Jose Sulaiman ruled out the possibility of an eliminator to find a mandatory challenger for Alvarez, saying he would fight the top available contender which appears to be England’s Ryan Rhodes.

rhodes would be a tougher test than hatton.

Translation: Rhodes lawyer threatened to sue the WBC so instead of another court battle he'll get a title shot.

At least Rhodes is a top ten Jr Middleweight.
