Nathan Cleverly vs Juergen Braehmer set for April 2nd, Degale and Murray likely for undercard
BoxingScene.com has been advised that an agreement was reached for unbeaten mandatory challenger Nathan Cleverly (21-0, 10KOs) to face WBO light heavyweight champion Juergen Braehmer (36-2, 29KOs) on April 2. I've been told the fight is likely going to land at the Wembley Arena in London.
Additionally, promoter Frank Warren's recent acquisition, unbeaten lightweight John Murray (30-0, 18KOs), is a strong possibility for the card.

Rick Reeno's double-scoop has certainly set up an interesting scenario for British boxing fans. As reported earlier, David Coldwell has won the right to stage James DeGale's British super-middleweight title defence against London rival George Groves. Coldwell, Hayemaker's Head of Boxing, tabled a £400,000 bid, Adam Booth, also of Hayemaker, put in a £325,000 offer, Frank Warren, who promotes DeGale, came in third with a £320,000 purse.
“I have two weeks to sort out the details and I will confirm it as soon as we've sorted them out. It is the biggest British fight out there,” reiterated Coldwell when speaking to BoxingScene.com.
Reeno also broke the news that Nathan Cleverly is set to take on Jurgen Braehmer at Wembley Arena, London on April 2. Braehmer's WBO light-heavyweight title will be on the line in that one. It is a big fight for the Welshman, and for British boxing. Could it also impact on DeGale versus Groves?
Consider, Wembley would be a great place to showcase DeGale's next move. There are persistent rumours of a possible fight against WBA regular title-holder Dimitri Sartison, who has been MIA since his July 2010 win over Khoren Gevor. Indeed, many cynics, this writer included, believe that DeGale will vacate the British belt and announce that he will challenge Sartison on April 2. A win for DeGale would enable him to offer Groves a voluntary tilt at the WBA strap, washing away memories of the aborted British showdown in the process. Anything is possible in boxing.
Time will tell. DeGale is currently 9-0 (7), he won the British by defeating Paul Smith last December. Groves has compiled a 11-0 (9) slate, picking up the Commonwealth crown en route. Many British fans are sceptical about the chances of the two men meeting, all should become clear over the next two weeks.
