WV2 undecided on next fight - Arce on Pac under card or March vs Top 15 contender

WBO super bantamweight champion Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr., could defend against former world champion Jorge Arce on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on the Pacquiao-Mosley card. “Nothing has been agreed yet,” said WV2′s promoter Tuto Zabala Jr. “There has been talks about it and yes we are interested in fighting under such a big fight card with Top Rank. Arce is a great former world champion and a big name in boxing and we know this could be a huge step up in Junior’s career and bring it to another level. It’s a fight we want. We received and offer from Top Rank which we did not accept. We are in negotiations. Hopefully we can come to terms with them since we have a great relationship and we are interested. Also we have another offer for one of the top 15 contenders to defend our title on March 7.”

Arce, who is seeking to become the first Mexican boxer to win four world titles in different weight categories, has also been rumored to be under consideration for a possible rematch against Cristian Mijares in April in Torreon, Mexico, however he is very interested in facing Vazquez. “I’m focused on the name of Wilfredo’ Papito ‘Vazquez and have long been talking about a fight with him,” said Arce.
