Juan Manuel Lopez vs Yuriorkis Gamboa on hold for a year ???

WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez, and WBA/IBF featherweight king Yuriorkis Gamboa, were tentatively set to face each other in a June showdown in New York on the night before the Puerto Rican Day Parade. It has been reported that the Lopez-Gamboa unification bout is on hold for at least another year as Top Rank continues to build both fighters to maximize their potential purses.

Jesus christ! Well, I'll be able to take my unborn children to see the fight. I have a feeling Arum feels Gamboa ain't ready. He keeps putting JuanMa in with decent competition and Gamboa looks worse and worse every time out.

I hope this is just a bs rumor, June before the parade is a perfect time for JuanMa vs Gamboa. If Arum leaves it for another year one of them might end up losing.

If they have them each work to clean out the division before fighting I'm all for it, but don't put them in there with anyone but top 5 fighters in the division. They better do it fast too because Juanma might outgrow the division.

I would accept this:

Gamboa v. John
Gamboa v. Hasegawa/Gonzalez

and

Juanma v. Rojas
Juama v. Ponce De Leon II/Marquez II

then

Gamboa v. Juanma

John's more likely to face Gamboa since the WBA is pressing for that fight.

If Arum's going to wait a year then Caballero should be brought back into the picture !!

I just said it to wind you up, but in all seriousness that fight should still be made. Caballero lost at Super Featherweight, he didn't lose his titles at 122lb or lose a 126lb, that fight would still be intriguing and HBO would buy it in a heartbeat. Just imagine the trash talking during the build up.

It's not like Litzau knocked Cab out or put a clinic on, Cab just had a bad day at the office.

So it looks like Gamboa vs John. Where would the fight be held?

There's nothing to win, it's been pretty well documented that JuanMa ducked Cabellero. He's avoided him ever since Super Bantamweight.

Well I dont care for it really, Im sure its universally known by everyone if they fight Gamoboa would cut Lopezes ass off and present it infront of everyone at the arena.

I don't have any problem letting this fight build up. It could be a big fight. But Arum needs to get these two on HBO as much as possible, not on his nich Top Rank PPVs. You are not going to build up a fighter by having him on small PPV with smallest audience.

To bad HBO got it's duck up Oscar's ass and given so many dates to GB.
