Deontay Wilder Facing Siarhei Liakhovich August 9
another small step up in competition for the kid. i know some of you arent too high on wilder, but im a fan. the power in his right hand gives me chills lol. curious to see how it holds up against higher ranked guys. i read that if he looks good in this fight they are goinig to push for a title shot. by next year he'll be fighting a klitschko. ive said it before and ill say it again, i think Deontay Wilder is the next american lineal Heavyweight Champ of the world. Liakovich is a former titleholder whos a bit older, but is still more formidable than what wilders faced before. his only losses are to pretty solid fighters. curious to see if he can take wilder to untested waters, meaning past the 4th round lol. i got deontay in a 3rd round KO with his patented straight right that rattles your ancestors

liakhovich is definitely a step up, but like you said is getting old. if wilder wins, its a solid win still but he still needs to fight a few top 20 HWs before he can fight a klit.

i agree, but i think hes finally gotten to the point in his career where hes going to start taking the big steps in competition. if he dusts liakhovich like they plan for him to, he'll fight a top 20 hw next, the good thing is he still fights every couple of months so hes moving along somewhat quickly in that aspect. he didnt start fighting til very late (in his 20s if im not mistaken) so i dont want to see him rushed too much. hes never gone more than 4 rounds and only has 28 fights so not a lot of rounds under his belt at all, especially against good fighters. i like how hes being managed so far, but it does have to end sooner or later. sink or swim cant keep the floaties on forever. we know he can crack but can he take one as well as he can give it is yet to be seen

..lol good point.its a step up because of the completion he fought before was the whos who of the stiffs club.the guy can punch and has power indeed but enough of the excuses.the division is awfull outside of haye and the 2 brothers..we will find out about price next week if hes moving forward or in the club of fighting so so also rans.time for wilder to fight a fury a price or guys above them.hes got enough in the form of amateur and pro fights to say im ready.ready for 3 or 4 fights against a helenuis whos awfull also or guys ranked from 8-12..either hes got it or doesn't.the heavies has very little well schooled crafty fighters that have something that resembles skill.enough of the cherry picking.his punch gives him a great chance against most guys now.can he fight.can he take a punch.we don't know but there isn't a lot of learning experience fighting washed up has beens that never was because they owned a phoney title.dbudge wrote:How is it a step up? Viscous KO by Wilder. He did what he was supposed to do but it is definitely time to step up and fight someone not going to go away from one punch.
Also, Broner's said he wants Maidana then Matthysse (if he gets past Garcia). If those are his next two fights then I'll be impressed. I didn't like his comment that it is "not about who you fight, but what you do." Sorry buddy, in a lot of fans eyes it is about who you fight and when you fight them.

the fight went as expected.a ko early 2 rounds or less.the other guy offered nothing in the form of self defence.as I predicted in the Mitchel -aerrola fight topic wilder will face the winner of that fight.that will be a step up but wilder should be the favorite.schaffer I read 2 days ago stated that's his plans to match the 2 winners up to establish a top American heavy...wilder can punch hard enough to take any heavy out of there.hes very tall 6 ft 7 long reach and a snappy jab.thoses are his assets.his balance is poor .hes very hitable since his big right after the jab is semi-teligrafed.he winds up at times making a punch not get there in a timely manner..hes aggressive for sure..can he take a punch.we don't know since hes never been hit.just a hunch but the balance plus suspect defence tells me a potential problem there..can he got deep in a fight 9 10 11 rounds or will he have jermain taylor type of problems.that we don't know.
is he ready..hes almost there.the next fight with the winner of Mitchel -chris a fight plus one more against legit ranked fighter tells me I think so.
can some of his shortcomings be corrected.yes to a certain degree.
one thing for sure hes a huge puncher.he gets a little leverage sometimes on thoses power shots.yes hes koed stiffs but the power is very evident there I feel.
that power can make him a legit heavy champ..his shortcomings can also make him the second mike grant.one thing for sure I feel he will bring excitement and a buzz to the division.if he fights Mitchell well mitch better get off first or hes done..chris a is tough but this guy can hit him often and ko chris for the count.
on broner hes full of crap.a low life piece of trash.he want madiana..whats the hold up.the deal is lingering for a month now on a deal that could be made in a day.showtime will pay top dollar for the fight.al haymon has not objected to the fight.money a mill for marcus 1.3 to 1.5 for broner.whats the holdup.its broner.yes punk it is who you fight and when you fight them.talk cant buy you a cup of coffee.

there is no doubt that wilder has power. his punch is dangerous for ANY HW. the biggest thing is that you can look dominate by KOing your opponents quickly, but there will always be fighters that you just cant land flush on and will take you into the later rounds. we really have no idea what will happen once he gets taken to the late rounds. its all up in the air. so im just waiting.
as for broner, ill wait for him to schedule his next fight before i judge. he talks big, but lets see if he will pull through with the fights that he says he wants.
