why did shane mosley skip 140?

i was having a conversation with my father who's also a big fight fan and he hinted that mosley skipped 140 because of kostya tszyu. i honestly told him he was crazy but thinking back at THAT time he got me wondering.
anybody else think mosley skipped 140 so he wouldn't face tszyu? i mean mosley fought dlh not long after didn't he?

same reason flod wouldn't hang around 140 that long. going after "Dollah" de la hoya. Prime Oscar at 147 was no joke so I can't say not fighting Tszyu in favor of a potential Oscar fight was "being scared" or "ducking."

Flod however, went up against a less dangerous ODLH than Mosley did though, even if it was at higher weight.

Still were very good wins for both fighters (discounting "Steroid Shane" incident )

I think though that Shane's skills match better with Oscar than they do with Kostya. Maybe he had a hard time making weight?

he moved from 135 to 147. I think it was a combination of factors: 1-weight- he was only going to be able to make 140 for a couple of fights at most(should have been there for a few fights already), 2-money-ODH was at 147- he had one tune-up fight and then the Golden Boy for huge dollars, 3-Kostya-don't believe he was jumping out of his seat with desire to face him

Agreed. Ducking opponents was never Mosley's problem. If anything led to Mosley suffering a loss, it was taking on an opponent that was largely unknown to the general public but avoided by most name figthers. Who knew Winky Wright before he fought Mosley? Vernon Forrest? If anyone was Mosley's, "Ken Norton", it was this guy and Mosley fought him twice. I'll admit that I'm shocked at his non fight vs. Mayweather, but he is, for the most part, a fearless figther.

As a huge Kostya Tszyu fan I always wanted him to fight either Mosley or Oscar at 140. Too bad neither fight happened.

That's Kosta's fault, Tszyu was in line to face Oscar until he ran into Vince Phillips.

He became a much better fighter after that Phillips fight.

i think that #3 might have a lot to do with it too. was kostya calling them out or did the fights just never happen?

He was calling them out, especially Oscar.
