Re: Top 30 Fights of 2012
seems like a good list. i just cant accurately rank 30 fights because a lot of them are on different levels in all of the areas that you said like pace, drama, and significance. its hard to say which fight is better when they are good for different reasons. its kind of like trying to compare different genres of movies. you can but its hard and innacurate.

Re: Top 30 Fights of 2012
My criteria: just how much I enjoyed the fight.
1) Pac-Marquez IV (might be the most joyous experience with boxing ever. Talk about drama)
2) Maidana vs Soto Karass (Maidana's a badass as usual, nice jab too)
3) Mayweather vs Cotto (Mayweather's getting beat up at times and that jab is nailing him)
4) Rios vs Alvarado (war what can I say? Rios never disappoints. Badass to the end)
5) Carl Froch vs Bute (just would not be denied. Vicious stuff)
6) Berto vs Guerrero (sweet cause I hate Berto)
7) Cristian Mijares vs Rafael Marquez (really nice fight love Mijares style)
8) Khan Job vs Garcia (Khan has heart. Fun to see him flailing around though lol)
9) Magic man Malignaggi vs Pablo Cesar Cano (really nice fight. Probably should have went Cano's way though)
10) That guy vs Rendall Munroe last month on the Ricky Hatton undercard (can't remember his name oh yeah Scott Quigg lol nice bodyshot ko)
11) Price icing Fraud Harrison in 1 round (stiffened with the first punch and knocked out with the next couple. The bum crumples once again)
12) Abregu exposing Dulorme (yes exposed dude is useless lol. If he comes back I'll be impressed)
13) Donaire vs Vazquez Jr (just a good fight)
14) Haye vs Chisora (was alright good enough)
15) Wlad beating the hell out of that huge guy (Wlad just looked vicious for a change)
Thats all I can think of. Theres some that I didn't add like Salido vs Juanma or Ortiz vs Lopez because I either didn't see the fight or only caught bits of it. I might be forgetting some good ones too.

Re: Top 30 Fights of 2012
How do we pick between
Rios vs Alvarado
JMM vs Pac
and
Soto Karras vs Maidana
Those are the three I found just plainly the most exciting.
My personal preference is the Maidana fight because he is one of my favorites and he beat on a guy that was WAY bigger than him.

to me, hands down the rios vs alvarado fight was the best fight. if you didnt know either guy, that would probably be the best for what it was. maidana vs karass would be a close second. JMM vs pac would be up there but it was better because of who the fighters were.

Yeah for sustained action Rios - Alvarado was the best fight you could get this year. I just wish there were some knockdowns thrown in there and the ending was very sudden. Its just nitpicking really though because it was a great fight and Rios did come from behind in my mind to stop Alvarado so there was some drama.
The only thing that kind taints Maidana vs Soto Karass is the stoppage was a little quick. JMM Pac proabably didn't have the sustained two way action all throughout but the drama was off the charts.

Re: Top 30 Fights of 2012
damn boxing had a good year as far as the product they put out. There were some great match ups. Maybe we should give a big round if applause to the promoters for once. They didn't do a bad job this yearkbyte wrote:powerpuncher wrote:to me, hands down the rios vs alvarado fight was the best fight. if you didnt know either guy, that would probably be the best for what it was. maidana vs karass would be a close second. Pac-Marquez in my mind is better just for the fact that these are two hall of fame fighters.
And also the stoppage in the Rios-Alvorado fight might have been a little early.
Lets hope that next year will have as many good matchups and they live up to the hype.
