Depends on how you look at it. I didn't have to go to work the last two days and I've been home getting drunk cause god forbid I lose power and the beer goes bad lol. I also cooked like crazy. Braciole, meat balls, branzino, polenta, and broccoli raab. I made stuffed clams yesterday. We bought a bunch of shit for a party next week and now I have to cook it.

Thats awesome. At least you are having a great time. We cooked out every day when our power went off last winter. It was a lot of fun.hardcorebee24 wrote:Soonermark890 wrote:That sucks man I feel for you guys. I understand having issues with storms and its not fun.hardcorebee24 wrote:Yeah we're fucked here. Gotta have fun. Cousins from down the block who flooded were here. Now my parents and sister are coming with my friends from my old neighborhood. Getting a spades tournament going. Should be an all nighter.

I love spades. We play a lot of spades and moon during thanksgiving every year.hardcorebee24 wrote:Soonermark890 wrote:Thats awesome. At least you are having a great time. My power went out around 6:30, we just got it back a few hours ago, parts of the state are completly fucked. The idiot Atlantic City mayor ignored the Governors evacutation order and had people go to a city shelter which has been flooded.
My boss told me not to come in yesterday and today, I may miss tommorow as well.

Richmond, Virginia, got off easy. Go 120 miles west into west virginia or 100 miles north/northeast and people got hammered. That storm went a little further north than they expected and we got damn lucky. For us it was a long windy, rain storm. Limbs down, but not like last August where we got hit more directly, with trees down and power out everywhere.
we got very lucky in this one.
My thoughts are with everyone further north that got the brunt of this one. Hope things get back to normal soon, and you can have some fun (as Hardcore is planning).

Re: So anyone having issues with the storm?
I lived in New Jersey for a year (Plainsboro-right outside of Princeton). I was getting an LLM in Tax from NYU and had a long commute as my wife was getting a master's from a college near Philadelphia.
At the time I didn't like living in New Jersey. As time has passed in the years since, I miss it. Colder weather. More snow. I like both. Being able to go to NY city.
Watching the news last night was hard. My in laws live in Berlin Md. Literally 5 miles outside of Ocean City. Their house was fine. But go 4 miles and over the bridge into Ocean City and the whole place was flooded. Sad. I love visiting that place whenever I go to the in laws for a few days. Watching NY City and the northeast in general (which I both love) get absolutely battered, was not fun.
If this storm was a boxer it was a slow plodding guy that packs a big punch. You dodge one shot, and he keeps coming, throwing bombs.

I have been watching the news and its crazy. It reminds me of when we went through that F5/F6 tornado on may 3, 1999. I was in high school and I remember having to clean up for days just to get down the street. It is an eerie feeling

If anyone has any news on any part of Jersey, please let me know. That's my home state.

Quite a few towns in Jersey are still without power. I only was out for about 16 hours, but it's still pretty bad. Many of the shore towns have been devastated. Between the downed trees/lines and non-working traffic lights, it's very difficult to get around, I'm missing my third day of work.
