Love or Religion?
Love or Religion?
What's more important to you?
Would you marry someone from a different religion? would they have to convert or would it not bother you? how about your future kids? what religion would you expect them to be?

Re: Love or Religion?
I'm non-religous (raised Roman Catholic), so as long as she didn't try to press anything on me it would be cool, although any one with serious reservations on alcohol or food laws (no pork, shellfish, meat, etc.) probably wouldn't get along with me anyways lol.

Re: Love or Religion?
Well I was raised First Baptist and my wife is Catholic (might as well be different religions) So for me it wouldnt matter too much. To be honest though it would be tougher if the woman you fell for didnt believe in God and you did. That one wouldnt fly with me. I think I could deal with any of the religions that believed in God.

I am an agnostic so love.
I don't really care though people are free to believe and follow which ever faith gives them solitude.

LOL she has been splitting time between Cali and Oklahoma lately. BTW did you know she gave up porn? The wife talked to her a little while back and she said she was going to sell her house and move back to Oklahoma permanently. I told the wife good it gives me an opportunity to try for a ménage à trois.Ali wrote:Soonermark890 wrote:Damn now we cant get married.Ali wrote:I am an agnostic so love.

Well I just broke up with my GF because she was too scared to take the risk of losing her family. I'm Muslim and she's Italian Catholic but her parents said they will never accept me and that if she stays with me they will disown her. So I'm not a big fan of Catholicism right now either.

Re: Love or Religion?
LOL I took my wife to a baptist church and then we went to sunday school afterword. The sunday school teacher spent most of the time bad mouthing catholics until my wife finally said "Im Catholic." BTW that shit was hilarious. But at the same time now she wont go back LOL.Rum Capital wrote:same here, i'm an evangelical christian and my wife is from that robotic religion they call catholicism i honestly tried going to a catholic church for her but other than getting a work out and LMAO at everyone reciting "and aaaaalllllsssooooo wiitthhh yooouuuuuu" i was BORED to death. i think if catholics would go to a baptist church they would never go back to a catholic church.Soonermark890 wrote:Well I was raised First Baptist and my wife is Catholic (might as well be different religions) So for me it wouldnt matter too much. Damn, thats crazy. I figured by now people would understand Muslims better to understand that you believe in the same God.freakzilla wrote:Rum Capital wrote:same here, i'm an evangelical christian and my wife is from that robotic religion they call catholicism i honestly tried going to a catholic church for her but other than getting a work out and LMAO at everyone reciting "and aaaaalllllsssooooo wiitthhh yooouuuuuu" i was BORED to death. i think if catholics would go to a baptist church they would never go back to a catholic church.Soonermark890 wrote:Well I was raised First Baptist and my wife is Catholic (might as well be different religions) So for me it wouldnt matter too much. I had to accompany my parents to mass recently (long story) and was frightened by how the people were just repeating everything like robots, and how it all just came back to me despite not having been in a church in years. I'm not a big fan of the christian demoniations though, there's this one born again douche who keeps harassing my employees and customers, asking them all sorts of questions on their faith, why their wrong and going to hell. Fucker walks around with a friggin' bible in his hand. We've asked several times to stop and he just smiles and tells to read all sorts of verses, finally made him leave last week and told him not to come back.
I'm sorry to hear about that Freak. Truth be told, I think Islam just still has a big stigma attached to it to close-minded people. Hell, it probably wouldn't go over to well in my house either, although my parents would likely (just barely) tolerate it.

Is it weird that I live in the buckle of the bible belt and people around here really tolerate things very well? You would think that it would be the opposite right?NJBeatdown86 wrote:Rum Capital wrote:same here, i'm an evangelical christian and my wife is from that robotic religion they call catholicism i honestly tried going to a catholic church for her but other than getting a work out and LMAO at everyone reciting "and aaaaalllllsssooooo wiitthhh yooouuuuuu" i was BORED to death. i think if catholics would go to a baptist church they would never go back to a catholic church.Soonermark890 wrote:Well I was raised First Baptist and my wife is Catholic (might as well be different religions) So for me it wouldnt matter too much. Re: Love or Religion?
im a latter day saint (or mormon as everybody knows us by that name) and my wife actually converted after we started dating in high school. because of my beliefs, i would never marry outside of my religion because i believe in an eternal marriage which cant happen outside of marriage by correct authority. i would also would have never married my wife if i didnt know she was truly converted. it isnt enough for her to do it for me. that is just dumb because i hate it when people claim a religion when they really dont know much about it or even believe that much. you are what you believe, not what you grow up as.
anyways, she got some backlash from her family. mainly her dad was really mad because he is "christian" but doesnt really follow much of anything. he hated me for a while but know we are cool. he likes me and we get along well. all it takes is having some kids and they will change. haha. my cousin is actually going through the same thing as i did but worse because he is marrying someone who converted and her family is hardcore with their denomination of christianity and wants really nothing to do with them anymore.
so for me, i dont always like to use the term religion because it makes it sound more like an organization is running your life rather than god. so i would choose what god wants me to do which was marry something with the beliefs that i feel are correct so that we can be married for eternity.
