More delusional rants from Guerrero
ROBERT GUERRERO: "I WOULD LOVE TO GO UP TO 150 AND FIGHT SERGIO MARTINEZ"
MJ: Robert, recently Floyd Mayweather said he doesn't know who you are. What are your comments to that?
RG: It makes me laugh when I hear that. I've been on co-features with Floyd Mayweather; he knows who I am. I've been at press conferences and weigh-ins with him. If anybody believes that, I have the Golden Gate Bridge for sale if anybody wants to buy it. It's funny to hear he doesn't know me.
MJ: It'll also be interesting to see what happens with Cotto as a free agent. Everything is so fluid in boxing right now. I know that has to keep you in suspense. What are you doing in the meantime while you wait out all of this? How do you handle it?
RG: I'm always in the gym, staying in shape. I'm just waiting it out to see what happens. When I hear stuff like Floyd doesn't know me, I just laugh it off. You just have to laugh about it.
MJ: How do you respond when some people say, "Why should Guerrero get a chance at Floyd when he hasn't fought anybody big at 140 or 147?"
RG: You have to look at where a guy is fighting at fight night. Does he come into the ring in his natural weight class? I fight around 151-152 pounds on fight night. Floyd fights around 151-152 pounds on fight night. The only difference is I can get it down more than Floyd does. At my natural weight, I'll be 100% stronger than I usually am. I'll be 100% hydrated and 100% healthy. It'll be more devastating to the guy I fight.
MJ: We also haven't seen much of anyone in those weight classes calling you out.
RG: It's funny. None of these so-called pound-for-pound guys want to call me out. The same thing happened with Marquez. "I don't know this guy." "Why should I fight him?" "He doesn't have a name." I was with him also on Showtime. I knocked out a guy, number one contender, in 56 seconds of the first round. It was the fastest featherweight title knockout in history, but he doesn't know who I am either. Saying they don't know me is just the fastest way to sidestep somebody and not get in the ring with him. It's a way to not have to deal with a fighter like me. I have that style that can give anybody problems.
MJ: If you can't get Floyd, who would be your top three choices for a fight to get you in line for Floyd?
RG: Marquez, Pacquiao, whomever I can get that would be the next biggest fight for my fans. I'm one of those throwback fighters that likes to fight the best because I want to be the best. I would love to go up to 150 and fight Sergio Martinez. Nobody wants to fight him either. I might just have to go past Mayweather and challenge a bigger guy to pick a fight.
MJ: So let me get this straight, you would fight Sergio Martinez at 150 pounds?
RG: Oh yeah! Definitely. Like I said, I want to fight the best. If you can fight, you can fight. The more I go up, the better I am and stronger I am. It's about making big fights; the fans deserve big fights. There are a lot of characters out there ducking and sidestepping. Let's get down to business and start making these fights. If you can't get the best fight, you look for the next best one.
MJ: Is there any chance you'll try to get to a mandatory position at 140 or 147 if you can't get the names you just mentioned?
RG: Yeah, like I said, I'm just looking for the next biggest fight out there, whoever it is.
MJ: It seems like Marquez or Morales would be a good one if available.
RG: Oh yeah. I've been trying to get Marquez in the ring for quite a while already. We'll see what happens.
MJ: Is there anything else you'd like to tell your fans at FightHype?
RG: Yeah, to hear Floyd Mayweather say that he doesn't know me makes me laugh. You have experts saying it's a pick 'em fight. There are guys like Eddie Mustafa Muhammad and Kenny Adams saying I have the skill set to make a tremendous fight and compete with Floyd. There are some of the best trainers in boxing history talking about me that I have the skill set to mix it up with Floyd. It's time to make that fight. Man up and do it! I'm just training and doing my thing, but if Manny doesn't make that fight, Floyd, I'm ready to go.
MJ: It would make sense for Floyd to fight another southpaw if he plans to fight Manny in the fall.
RG: Let me tell you something, if he gets in the ring, as soon as I hit him, he'll know who I am.

Guerrero: If Khan is Available, I'm Willing To Smash Him!
Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero was recently on the latest edition of BoxingScene.com's official audio show The Boxing Lab and discussed potential fights he’d like to have this year.
Guerrero and his team had been vehemently pursuing a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. for his May 5th fight date in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand. But WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto secured the Mayweather opportunity, and now Guerrero has found himself looking for another opponent for his comeback fight. Guerrero is recovered from a 2011 shoulder injury.
A possible fight Guerrero would like, and has been wanting, is a fight with fellow Golden Boy stablemate Amir Khan.
"If there's a Khan fight available, let's do it. I'd be willing to smash on Khan. That's a fight I've been wanting since before he fought Peterson" said Guerrero. "I've been saying it time after time that to me, he's a frontrunner. When the tough gets going, he starts tying up and pushing and hanging on for dear life. And Peterson exposed it. It's just too bad it wasn't me that exposed it."
Another possible fight for Guerrero is Victor Ortiz who just had his rematch with Andre Berto cancelled due to Berto injuring his bicep during a sparring session in training camp. Guerrero expressed an interested in facing Ortiz and also took to Twitter today to call him out.
“Let’s give the fans what they want. Battle of Cali or are you from Kansas now?” Guerrero tweeted directly to Ortiz.
Guerrero is looking for an opponent to get back in the ring soon and Golden Boy has plenty of options to offer him. Guerrero himself said he’s ready for anyone.
“I’m ready to fight anybody. I’m ready to fight the best. Whoever it is. Victor Ortiz, Pacquiao, [Brandon] Rios, [John] Molina. Bring them all. Like I said I want to fight the best fighters out there. Let’s make it happen”.

Guerrero is just looking for a pay day. He wants to fight Ortiz from what hes been sayin lately. He needs to get in the back of the line and work to get big fights. GBPs should throw him in vs DeMarco if the rematch with Linares doesnt happen next.

Robert Guerrero: I Belong With The Elite in Boxing
"This is my big opportunity to show the world that I belong with the elite fighters in boxing," Guerrero said. "Everyone says it can't be done, but I'm going to show the world skipping super lightweight and going straight to welterweight with no tune up to challenge the No. 1 contender and beating Selcuk Aydin can be done!
"I'm here to face the toughest challenges and put myself in a position to get mega-fights. It's not going to be easy beating a full-fledged welterweight. That's why my team and I will get the proper training, sparring and diet when I leave to camp. The mountains of Tahoe are set at high elevations which will make for a great training camp."
"I look forward to making history for the Bay Area and all my fans across the world."
.
Said manager Bob Santos, "Team Guerrero would like to thank SHOWTIME and Golden Boy for putting this event on at the HP Pavilion in San Jose. When you speak of a fighter who has competed in six different weight classes from 122 to 147 as Guerrero is doing, it's something special. I believe the only other active fighters that have done it are Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. Guerrero is a five-time world champion in three divisions and has all the makings of superstar."

He'll be the next guy who tests positive for PED's. Golden Boy needs to make a Guerrero Malignaggi fight, Paulie's already done a major part of the promotion. Do it in Brooklyn and soon.

Nope, I didn't get a name but he was a young fighter out of Watsonville, a town over the mountain from Gilroy. I just heard he did not do very well against him. If he can't handle bigger sparring partners that are only prospects, he won't handle welterweight contenders like Aydin. Guerrero is overrated.GrantZilla wrote:Diego408 wrote:Last I heard about Guerrero was he was being worked by this 19 year old kid from Watsonville at Netfitness here in Gilroy. And It ain't no rumor.

Re: More delusional rants from Guerrero
It could be either one. Moneys on Garcia though. Guerrero and all these other local pros from around the same areas spar against each other to get in work. It's a trade off for these guys. They'll go to each others gym from time to time to spar. I don't believe Guerrero is a legit contender at welter or even at jr welter.

Robert Guerrero To Adrien Broner: ‘You Got To Man Up!’
Newly crowned welterweight interim titleholder Robert Guerrero commented on his recent war of words on Twitter with lightweight Adrien Broner.
“You get guys like Adrien Broner and other fighters wanting to challenge guys, but they want to bring them down to a catchweight.” Guerrero told Comcast SportsNet Bay Area in a video interview. “I’m not about that, calling out guys and trying to bring them down in weight, and meet at catchweights, and this and that.
“You got to man up, pretty much. You got to man up. Fight the fights that are right there in front of you, and you know what, if you throw out the challenge, you’re going to go to the challenge. You’re not going to try to bring the challenge to you.”
Guerrero distinguished a potential matchup with Broner from his close friend Andre Ward’s upcoming Saturday battle with light heavyweight Chad Dawson for the unified 168-pound title.
“The difference is that Chad called out Andre,” he stated later off-camera. “He’s the one who challenged [Ward] at Andre’s weight, so Andre just accepted the challenge and that’s where they’re fighting.”
With his unanimous decision victory over Selcuk Aydin in July, Guerrero became the mandatory challenger to Floyd Mayweather, who has not defended the belt since his stoppage of Victor Ortiz last September

the difference is that guerrero was at 135 a fight ago and broner is moving up to 135. but i will agree that if you really want to challenge someone, you should probably fight at whatever weight they want.
the funny thing is that the post post of this thread is about how guerrero says that he would fight martinez at 150. haha.
