pirog vs martinez?
ok first off boxingscene is a funny site. yesterday i was reading the early results from the martinez-williams since this highly touted prospect from hometown was fighting. well in the early results del valle was stopped by some noe lopez or something. today i read all the results and del valle actually stopped lopez.
ANYWAYS what do you guys think about pirog vs martinez i would like to see pirog fight one more time before this if it actually happens. just to give him more exposure

It is certainly a logical fight. Often times two counterpunchers make for a rather tactical fight. But given what Sergio has done recently? I'd watch any fight he's in and expect a good show.

pirog is def. no slouch. it's not that he koed jacobs is the little switch move that he did in order to do so.marbleheadmaui wrote:It is certainly a logical fight. See at the pro level one really shouldn't be able to crab in like Pirog did there. The reason? a decent technician jabs your head off when you get square with one foot in the air. But Pirog to his credit read the situation right. Jacobs didn't know what he was doing.

He may not be ready but his management team can't wait too long. He is already 30 or 31( I think, could be wrong) and unlike Martinez who is an aberration, most fighters slide in their 30s. If that is the biggest money fight Pirog can get then I would take it. A shot at the man at MW and even in a competitive loss (assuming not damaged), stock won't really drop. Why not go for it!!!!

i didnt realize that pirog was so old. maybe it is a good idea for him to start fighting top competition then.captainanddew wrote:powerpuncher wrote:i dont think that pirog is ready but oh well, make the fight!

Get it done. Martinez should stay active. I know he wants to retire but he just got his first million dollar payday and i can bet he earned a slew of fans with that KO. He'll fight six more times I believe between Jr Middle and Super Middle. We know that Sturm will duck him but that's the fight I'd like to see in March.

Yeah that kinda changes the equation.

I'm interested to see what Pirog can do against someone like Martinez, I would definitely tune in. Also if Pirog is that old, he better start fighting a little more often!
