PPVs Need to be Multi-Venue
Max Kellerman hit it on the head. There were some intrguing undercards last night, but the crowd is not emotionally invested in it. Therefore, they just sit there quietly like a bunch of Germans watching a Klitschko fight.
That same night, the Showtime card was full of a lively audience. I think Arum/Golden Boy need to start considering multi-venue fights and put them both on PPV. That way the crowd is into all of the fights on the card. The crowd has a huge impact on the entertainment level of a fight.
Also, I was extremely irritated at Jim Lampley last night. He was so fixated on pursuing that unnecessary handwrapping "issue" during the Delvin Rodriguez-Pawel Wolak fight. I believe it was round 4, the most entertaining round of the entire fight, they talked a full 3 minutes about the "wrapping" situation and completely ignored the fight taking place.

Re: PPVs Need to be Multi-Venue
Multi-Venues can be a logistical nightmare. Especially if they are on different sides of the country.
It worked with the Canelo and Mayweather fight because both were in the same region on the West Coast.
But last night's fight was in New York. So if say they had the Rios fight in LA, that's a three hour time difference.
Weird, because I went to a BAD fight a while back in my area, and they had main events on first because it was nearly 10:00pm on the East Coast.

Good points, but I don't think it would be too difficult at all. Have two fights in an intimate venue (like the Showtime fights last night) followed by the next two fights at the main venue for the PPV. People start showing up for the final under card at a main PPV, so I think this would work perfectly.

There's enough $ involved that people should be able to make it happen. You can plan according to the time zone and book the locations accordingly. Last night they could've had the first two fights in Foxwoods on an earlier schedule and had the 2nd two fights on a later schedule. HBO would've had to send out 2 teams, but I think if they get $ from the gate they could make that happen. I'm not trying to pay $70 to hear people boo because it's not the main event yet.GrantZilla wrote:Multi-Venues can be a logistical nightmare. Especially if they are on different sides of the country.

I think the problem is they don't promote the undercards, especially if they are good match-ups, at all for these fights.
That's difference between boxing and UFC. UFC will promote the undercards
