What's happening with boxing?
The past 2 weeks have been awesome. I'm actually starting to like it again. I was a huge fan until about 2005 when all the bullshit put me off. 3 fights the past fortnight have been good though. 1st the Manny fight, then the Green-Flores fight then yesterday's fight. If they keep it up then boxing will get all their fans back. Long may it continue.

The last pay-per-view that I actually paid for was FMJ vs Oscar.

Re: What's happening with boxing?
And the crazy thing the year's biggest weekend by far is next week!
In particular order:
Abraham v. Froch
JMM v. Katsidis
Ward v. Bika
Caballero v. Litzau
Berto v. Hernandez
Segura v. Vargas
Vasquez v. Dominguez
Everyone of those fights is a quality fight. This is the most stacked night in boxing I can remember. I'm already planning how to clear space on my DVR.
Also, Nate Campbell and Erislandy Lara are on the HBO undercard (maybe get a recap of a Lara KO against TBA or a Campbell revival/burial)

Re: What's happening with boxing?
It just happened that there was big fights for November and December. Good matchups. Guys people know. Of course after the way HBO didn't schedule alot for a long period of the year, this is make up.
The secret to boxing is finding the fights.
ESPN FNF that starts in january again is entertaining, if only for Teddy Atlas's crazy metaphors (and the occasional good scraps).
There is good cards on some of the Spanish language stations but I don't get them (which sucks).
There is alot of pretty good fighters in Europe that put on decent fights. Stieglitz is a lower top 10 guy at 168. he won't ever be elite, but that didn't stop him and Ornelas from being in an entertaining fight yesterday.
There was a damn good card from the UK that had 7 fights a couple of months ago. It had good prospects and guys just reaching world ranking level. Wasn't any bad fights that I can recall amongst them all.
We caught a stream of Ricky Burns fighting for a strap 6 weeks ago or so. Great fight. Great stream. Definite fight of the year candidate.
Boxing isn't dying. There is alot of issues. But in today's technological age you can find fights with streams that are often as good as watching on tv. They may not be household US names, but good fighters that you may have seen before and would want to see fight again.

Bika and Katsidis (2 Aussies) are fighting next week so I'll check them out for sure. I haven't seen Don King the past 2 weeks so maybe that has something to do with it.

Just recently getting back into boxing after a 5 year layoff. I usually just watch when Aussies fight.

But those things don't generate income for the sport. That's the issue. Not that there aren't quality fights, that they aren't getting seen by enough people.
