Did anyone notice the HBO biasness last night?
Pacquaio was getting his dick sucked on live TV by HBO. Lampley would just mention any punch Manny landed. Leddermans card was a complete joke. Kellerman didnt even jumo on anyones neck after the decision or even jump on that wide scorecard. It looked like he was holding back while giving his interviews. No praise for what Marquez did by them. What a shameful broadcast last night.

I'm a cheap fuck and had Captain find me a stream. I did notice this last week in the glen Johnson fight that Steve Albert was all Johnson every round until Tarver and Berstein checked him. Lampley has a history of only seeing his favorite fighters punches. He did however give Marquez the victory.

I just saw it again with the HBO team and thought they did a great job. Yes, they're biased but they accurately described what was happening in the fight.
Lampley has always been pro Pacquiao and made concessions about what JMM was doing well.
Kellerman was much more quiet than normal, but spoke up to keep Lampley in check and say that many people might be viewing the fight for JMM.
Stewart didn't really favor either fighter. He talked about Pacquiao more because he's the more interesting fighter. His footwork, his rhythm, his speed, all of that is unique. Stewart would just point that out, but he also mention that JMM's accurate punching and careful boxing was effective.
Lederman scored the fight how he saw it. There were a lot of pick'em rounds (really the majority of the fight). He said that he gave all of those rounds to Pac because of his aggression and output. That's not bias as much as it is a preference. I think he'd have scored it the same if it was any other fighter.
HBO is somewhat notorious for their bias (talking about Jorge Linares as a future star while he was eating flush punches on the way to a stoppage, hyping Berto as a p4p guy as he blew out cans and struggle with fringe contenders, etc.) but I don't think that was the case last night.

I'm glad I watched the British feed with Khan. He's got a career in announcing for sure. Who was the guy announcing with him? He was actually pretty entertaining, and not in an annoying way like Gus Johnson.

I don't recall his name but he's always doing the Top Rank feeds.

Just watched the HBO replay (thanks again Gumby!) and yeah, there was some bias. Not all that extreme, but clearly a few times when there were good exchanges and only Pac's punches were mentioned. Also more than a few thinly-veiled digs at Floyd (noting how niether JMM or Pac were ever called dirty; comments on who they've fought; etc.).
It was a damn close fight no matter how you see it; I really don't see how all this talk of "robbery" is appropriate at all.

I thought it was spot on and a great broadcast too Gumby. Lederman was awesome as usual, ecspecially in the condition he is in and fighting the fight he is, I thought he was terrific and courageous.

I agree except for Ledderman's card I thought he did a pretty good job. But yes for some reason they were pretty biased toward Pac.Diego408 wrote:Pacquaio was getting his dick sucked on live TV by HBO. Lampley would just mention any punch Manny landed. After catching the HBO broadcast I honestly didn't hear much bias, Jim slightly got carried away with Manny at the start but toned it down later.
Lederman's card wasn't that outrageous either, I can see how Manny could win those rounds with his aggression and volume.

Could barely hear the audio at the bar I watched it at.
Pac played into Marquez's fight by trying to outbox him, dumb move from the get go
Nacho said him trying to box more at the higher weight would be to their advantage, sure did play out that way. Less aggressive Manny was never going to get in range to do damage like he did in previous fights
