What's next for Linares? Empty What's next for Linares?

Post  Gumby Mon Oct 17, 2011 7:44 pm

This weekend was a pretty good display of who Jorge Linares is as a fighter.

He's got good speed, good movement and is a solid technical boxer. He's not a big puncher at lightweight and he wears down during fights. He has occasional mental lapses where he eats punches.

I don't think he's strong enough to be a factor at his current weight and his body can't handle dropping back down to 130. I really like the guy, but I just can't see him reaching the potential people thought he had.

Does he have a future?

...ill agree with that.look he did many things right and showed good talent but its a ive seen that movie before type of fighter.he is a good match up for young contenders on the fringe of crashing the rankings or the bottom 2 or 3 of the top ten.i was not impressed a bit on demarcos abilty.yes he did a couple of things semi right yet he won.

After the brutal beating Linares took from DeMarco Saturday, it's hard to imagine him coming back from it and being a force in boxing again.

When he was undefeated I was one of the first that said he was overrated. A week later he got KOed in 1. Now he lost a fight he was winning, had he survived the 11th and 12th rounds, he would of won. He pretty much just gased out. Hes no gate keeper, he has the talent and ability, he just doesnt have that conditioning to fight hard for 12 rounds and even before this fight, it had been an issue. I doubt DeMarco will give him a rematch, hes probably looking at a title shot at Bam Bam Rios. A linares rematch will still be very dangerous.

Linares should try to fight in the first part of 2012 and get back into contention for a title shot. He can do it, he just needs to train harder.

I seen a clip of the post fight press conference after the Bhop vs Dawson PPV card and Richard Schaefer was saying that GBP was going to submit a protest on behalf of Linares stating that they thought the fight was stopped prematurely? Fuck out of here with that B.S Richard! I first commented on this fight when it went down and felt it was a bit premature but to file a protest? Why not just man up and give credit and ask for a Rematch.

nano i agree.lineras was fading fast indeed and was in trouble but wasnt hit by a effective punch before the stopage which was premature.there was no protest from lineras or his corner so why now by gb.to protect a record and to ignore the fact he was out of gas with no effective offense left in him..

I saw the whole press conference yesterday, Richard was so full of shit.

Also Shaw called B-Hop a pussy like 4 times LMAO and said hes "no gangsta" like he had claimed to be and the crowd busted up. Also Pascal and Dawson got into a huge arguement after Dawson was sayin he had Pascal out on his feet. A lot of trash talk from both guys, I really want to see that fight.
