So much for the GBP-Top Rank Truce
Wow. @BobArum just WENT OFF on @GoldenBoyBoxing for scheduling Mares-Agbeko opposite the Cotto-Margarito PPV. 'There will be retaliation.'

Was that a GB decision or a Showtime one?

Yeah. If I remember right, that date was set before Arum would even confirm which fucking network was going to show the Cotto-Marg PPV

Hell yeah. I'd be pissed too if I was Showtime. Fucking get CBS involved to help hype a shit fight like Pac-Mosley, and he can't even give them Cotto-Margs?

yea man
they catered to him only to get burned
Pay for Cotto-Mayorga, get Pac-Mosley, then nothing but maybe a Brandon Rios fight

Why Arum should retire and let DuBoef take over, DuBoef wanted to stay with CBS-Showtime, not HBO.

Re: So much for the GBP-Top Rank Truce
I think Arum figured out it wasn't a GB thing, but Showtime getting back at him. Dumb move by Showtime.
Brandon Rios' date of December 10 on Showtime is off the table after a fuming Bob Arum ripped the network for countering his HBO pay-per-view on December 3, and now it appears that Rios will be headed to that HBO pay-per-view, headlined by Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito.
You do have to wonder if Top Rank was pleased with Showtime's handling of the events. No official numbers were ever released, which leads many to believe that Pacquiao vs Mosley did not do the Bob Arum-circulated 1.3 million pay-per-view buys that was widely quoted and reported, and the Cotto show also didn't have official numbers, though those were supposedly around 200,000, also more rumor than fact

I'm willing to bet the numbers for both fights weren't as good as Arum expected. No matter. Dumb move by Showtime. Arum gave them two PPV fights when they hadn't done PPVs for years. Plus, great fights on regular Showtime. Now, they just lost Rios because of such childish bullshit like counter programing to "get even."

I didn't really think of that but I hadn't heard "official" numbers. I would think Showtime would be obligated to release the numbers just like HBO is.

Gotta side with Golden Boy on this one, Arum is just getting way too sensitive in his old age.
