Mad Men's buxom beauty Christina Hendricks has her eyes set on playing another iconic character of the past: Wonder Woman.
As Hendricks' film career takes off with strong supporting roles in Sarah Jessica Parker's "busy mum" rom-com I Don't Know How She Does It and Ryan Gosling's fast-car thriller Drive, the 36-year-old told New York Magazine of her desire to don the Wonder Woman costume on film.
"I grew up on the TV show, and I had Wonder Woman Underoos, and my brother had a Wonder Woman doll — sorry, Aaron, you're exposed," she said.
"And Nicolas [Winding Refn — Hendricks' Drive director] said, when we were on set, 'I want you to be Wonder Woman'. And I think he is such an extraordinary and exceptional director, that if he asked me to do it, I would do it in a heartbeat."
While the DC Comics superheroine was huge in the 1970s TV series starring Linda Carter, a recent US TV pilot featuring Friday Night Lights' Adrianne Palicki failed to ignite. In 2007, a Wonder Woman film project by Buffy The Vampire Slayer's Joss Whedon was mysteriously aborted, and Whedon claimed his Wonder Woman "was basically Angelina Jolie". Past rumours have also put Beyonce and Megan Gale as potential candidates for a Wonder Woman film remake.
Hendricks remains hopeful about being asked to play the superwoman.
"Hopefully the stars would align [for Wonder Woman]. It would be really fun. It would be cool, wouldn't it? I'd get to kick ass," she said.
