Nick Diaz vs BJ Penn

Made official yesterday. It's a good way to give Nick a 2nd chance and still get use out of him. Besides BJ vs Nick is an amazing style matchup and Condit already earned his title shot anyways. So honestly this could have been the original matchups and no one would have complained. The result is still 2 awesome fights on the same card.

Way more entertaining fight than GSP vs. Diaz.

I'll give you that. This is a matchup that I have wanted to see play out. Two guys that are fucking game and extremely skilled.

So what's the reason for White making this fight instead of GSP-Diaz?

Diaz is signed to a new contract for a good couple mill, it's too costly to fire him. Plus the fans have been dreaming about this fight for years.

I am a MMA fan, and if you follow the sport you'll understand why fans are excited to see this fight.

Penn will come to bang with Nick, he won't avoid a brawl like GSP will.

I agree there, UFC champ vs. Strikeforce champ is very significant.

This is a blessing in disguise though, I just hope Nick get's his act together and starts promoting it.

I suppose the best way to put it is that GSP-Diaz is the bigger fight, Penn-Diaz is the better fight. Nick is an idiot though, he lost a title shot and probably PPV % and other bonus money because he didn't want to do a press conference. When he heard he was fighting BJ he probably beat his chest and yelled "STOCKTON MOTHERFUCKER!"

Well this is a way for the UFC to punish Nick for not being professional, taking away his title shot. But at the same time it allows them to still get use out of him for the top fighter he is. So this is a way for Nick to makeup for his mistakes.

I would've liked to see Diaz vs GSP more, but this will still be good. I can see Nick taking this just because he is the bigger man. The 3 or 4 inches and the arm length could be a huge advantage in the striking for Nick. I hope BJ kicks his ass though as I can't stand either Diaz brother.
