Katsidis to return in Oct/Nov, eyes N'dou, Mitchell and Casamayor
A mooted rematch with Britain's Kevin Mitchell or a domestic blockbuster with Lovemore Ndou have prompted Michael Katsidis to resume training just one week after his last fight.
With the options of an October 15 London bout with Mitchell or a November date in Australia with Ndou, Katsidis quickly returned to his training camp in Thailand following his August 13 third-round knockout of Mexican Michael Lozada on the Gold Coast.
Katsidis blasted out the previously unbeaten Mitchell in three rounds back in May 2010 at West Ham's Upton Park Stadium in a successful WBO interim lightweight title defence.
While Katsidis moved up to light-welterweight to fight Lozada, his trainer Brendon Smith said there would be no problem going back down to lightweight.
Mitchell is ranked No.3 in the WBO lightweight rankings, six places higher than Katsidis, whom he called out after an eighth-round stoppage last month of compatriot John Murray.
"At first I believed these guys weren't fair dinkum, but we're still talking numbers so we'll see how fair dinkum they are," Smith told AAP from Thailand.
"We've been having some discussions for a rematch with Kevin Mitchell, therefore we've arrived here to continue on training and if the fight goes down we'll stay here.
"However, I also still have a lot of interest in Lovemore Ndou."
Smith said Ndou had agreed to fight Katsidis at junior-welterweight in November and at whichever venue he suggested, possibly Brisbane, but that the financial details and a deal with pay television still had to be sorted out.
"I think it's a great fight for Australia," Smith said of Katsidis-Ndou.
"You've got to give credit where it's due and Lovemore has fought the best in the world and been in some great fights and he's very tough."
Another potential opponent could be Cuban veteran Joel Casamayor, the first professional to beat Katsidis.
Smith said his charge would also have no problem accepting a fight withtough Argentinian Marcos Maidana, if his postponed bout with the injured Robert Guerrero wasn't rescheduled.
He wasn't concerned about the possibility of Katsidis backing up just two months after the Lozada fight.
"Michael put Michael Lozada away early, he came through with no cuts, no injuries, it's perfect timing to back up again," Smith said.
"Regardless of whether it is Kevin Mitchell, Lovemore Ndou. Joel Casamayor or whoever we decide to fight next, we will fight late October or mid November."

katsidis can gain zero by fighting n'dou, with casa at least there's revenge though over a washed up fighter.until the ko katsidis was winning the 1st fight so i' sure he'd start favourite & with mitchel it's all about $ until mitchell claims a bigger scalp.i still think katsidis will aim for a morales fight,if morales doesn't lose 1st,then move toward a maidaina type fight.think katsidis will try to avoid boxers & look for paydays against bangers & brawlers.
