I really wanted to see Paranormal Activity in the theater, that would have been entertaining with all the crowd reacting around me.

Define classic.
Gone with the Wind
Citizen Kane
Bridge on River Kwai
Great Escape
Ben Hur
Birdman of Alcatraz
Wild Bunch
John Ford's Calvary Trilogy
Red River
Treasure of Sierra Madre
Scaramouche
Once Upon a Time in the West
the best years of our lives
Leone's Eastwood Trilogy
spartacus
Hitchcock films
Capra Films
I like movies made before I was born (1977) alot more than movies made after I was born. Why? Because people like George Lucas and Spielberg ushered in an era of popcorn movies in the late 70s/early 80s. That was fine, but as time has gone on, more and more movies suck as they won't make anything anymore that involves an attention span.
In once upon a time in the west, Leone's 1968 masterpiece, the beginning has a 9-10 minute opening, where it is almost no talking, and just jack elam, wood strode, and another actor waiting for a train to arrive. Elam playing with a fly. Strode having water accumulate on top of his hat. A windmill creating a repeating creaking sound. Then Bronson finally appears and we are off. That kind of scene would not get made anymore. What audience is going to watch for almost 10 mins to see the movie begin.
Yes alot of older movies were corny, but alot were downright amazing.

I am not an expert on classic movies but do enjoy some of them, Lawerence Of Arabia is a fantastic movie, arguably one of the most beautiful visual films ever to grace the screen.

Lawrence of Arabia is an amazing flick. I usually watch that at least once a summer. The vastness of space you get when watching it is breathtaking.
But nothing beats sitting down on a saturday afternoon, pulling out Leone's Eastwood trilogy (commonly called Dollars trilogy), cooking up some Mexican food, drinking some whiskey, and wasting a day away.
I love how people drink Whiskey in westerns. They just turn the bottle up and down it. Afterwards, they don't cringe, shake their head or anything. I love Whiskey but damn it can bring the pain.

Re: Movie discussion thread
Saw The Deathly Hallows part 1 today, outside the first two movies it's probably the weakest of them, simply because it sags in the middle with the tent scenes. Not bad and not great but enjoyable if you like the series.

It's the film about the Roman legion that gets massacred in my native land, a few survive and they try to escape but are chased down by some crazy celts. It's got McNutly from The Wire in it.

That's the thing we don't know, Nolan left it spinning to keep us guessing.

I watched The Goonies again yesterday, what a classic
Was weird seeing Josh Brolin as a teen, he looked nothing like his adult self.
