I know he's a villain, but I find it difficult to hate Margarito, he's a warrior.
I'll never forget that weekend of the first fight, saw The Dark Knight in the cinema during the afternoon then stayed up to watch the epic battle.

Neither do I, Tony wore Miguel down with his pressure and vicious body shots.
I get the feeling Tony's old trainer panicked before the Mosley fight because of how Tony struggled to lose all that celebration weight he gained after the Cotto victory. Plus the long lay off to convalesce.

eh, I'm not buying the weight thing at all. I don't think his trainer panicked. It comes down to this.
If Margarito beat Cotto without loading his gloves, why would he feel the need to load his gloves vs. Mosley. Cotto beat Mosley, so there's no reason why he would lack the confidence to beat Mosley fair and square.
I would like to believe that Margarito did not load his gloves, because that fight was spectacular... but I think he did. Most people agree with me too.

i agree. what trainer just decides after his fighter's most defining victory that loading up handwraps is a necessity

Not trying to excuse the heinous act, I just really don't believe Tony loaded against Cotto or Cintron, his style and attitude will always give them nightmares.

I have a hard time believing Mosley was his first. Besides, once a cheater, always a cheater. Especially when it comes to those wraps. No way did Margo "not know". Besides, Margo has a long road back after this surgery, plus there's no guarantee that it will stay. He might not even get medical clearance to fight. One can only hope.gomez1012 wrote:I still don't think he loaded his gloves vs Cotto

Its easy to be a warrior knowing you have rocks in your hands.

sorry but Margo should not be allowed to fight with his injury. He is really going to get hurt for the rest of his life. What's going to happen once he gets hit in that eye?

While I think he loaded his gloves against Cotto, I don't agree with your logic. Cotto was known for having a weak or average chin and was much smaller than Margarito. Margarito knew that pressure would work against him. Mosley has an iron chin, is fast, and has a very large frame (reach and ability to put weight on). Also, just because people agree with you doesn't make anything true.
I think he loaded against Cotto because he knew it was his chance to become a star.

boxing writers who saw Cheato in camp before the Mosley fight said he looked like dogshit. Dougie Fisher of ringtv was with maxboxing then and he loves to visit camps. he had visited the camp and was none too impressed with the form he was showing in that camp compared to the other camps he and Steve Kim had seen prior to that one.
Do I think he loaded versus Cotto? If I was forced to bet my life I would have to say yes.
