Schaefer afraid of losing Mosley

BoxingScene.com this week posted a story by Michael Marley that quoted Top Rank CEO Bob Arum as basically saying that Shane Mosley told him he is a free agent.

"Mosley is operating independently of Golden Boy," Arum told Marley. "Mosley told me it's up to him who he fights now; it's his decision."

Mosley, 38, has retained his stock in Golden Boy Promotions, the story said.

Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy, on Wednesday refused to talk about the situation. He wants to wait for Mosley to return a phone call he made to him regarding the situation.

"I have a call in to Shane and I haven't heard from him yet," Schaefer said. "That is all I really want to say at this point."

Mosley is coming off a lackluster draw against Sergio Mora in September at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Arum is lining Mosley up and eliminating the competition

I wouldnt be surprised if this leads to Floyd saying fuck it and working with Arum

GB pretty much lost Hops and now Mosley over the same reason.

Both these guys are old, and there is no market for them. Hops obsession to fight Jones Jr when nobody wanted to see that fight is what caused the rift between him and GB. GB lost money on that PPV because it sucked so bad. And now Hops is bitching that GB and HBO not supporting him.

Sh it, to tell you how there was no market for Hops, Showtime going to do a nich PPV for Pascal fight, and realizeds the PPV was going to bomb, so they shut that down.

Same with Mosley. The Mora PPV was a joke. Got terrible numbers. I gurantee you GB tells him there's no market for him, he get's pissed. Then got Arum telling him he'll get him fights.

Mosley so dumb he doesn't know Arum just going to use him and his name as resume padder, just like what Holyfield is now.

Their output deal with HBO is going to expire next year, Top Rank can get you fights on a regular basis, and they know how to do PPVs that profit

Pinoy Power, Latin Fury, Pavlik-Rubio/Cotto-Jennings

They produce their own PPVs so they dont need HBO's money to do them

How dumb of HBO to give GB an out-put deal. When has an out-put deal with a single promoter ever worked? Never.

Giving any promoter given dates is just bullshit. Showtime learned this, and they pay on a fight by fight basis. The most they will do is give a fighter a 3 fight contract. Big deal.

Such an out-put deal with Top Rank is what ruined boxing on Versus. Because Arum took advantage of it, just like he did with out-put deal he had on ESPN, by putting shit on and hyping up bums like Tye Fields.

Agree. Mosley and BHOp need to go. Both have overstayed their welcome. What else can they accomplish? BHOP seems perpetually in the mindset that he didn't get paid enough in his 30s, so he is going to fight as long as possible. Mosley went through the divorce and likely has money somewhat on his mind as well. A big part of it is both of these guys like to fight!!!! At some point, those closest to them are going to have to convince them to shut it down.

Grant-you can curse on here. It doesn't get edited out or provide any stigma. I'm the king of inserting words I couldn't use on espn(though I'm trying to limit it as I do it a bit much)!!!!!

Networks aren't smart. Showtime has done a much better job of running things in the last few years than HBO.

mosley is no loss for hbo..with all the fighters out there wanting a decent payday hbo consintrates on berto bo hop mosley etc etc.made a bid or deaL FOR ONE FIGHT AT A TIME NOT FIGHTERS WITH LONG TERM CONTRACTS.WITH SHANE AND BO HOP LOL A 3 FIGHT DEAL MEANS 4 YEARS.

In the Mayweather fight, Mosley was shaking his hands. Trying to get things to work properly. He is fading fast. Margarito was a perfect opponent for a final hurrah. Hard to believe but he beat Margarito 22 months ago. That is an eternity.
