GSP is always boring. He is the best fighter in the world and he is boring.Ali wrote:gomez1012 wrote:it did, but the main event flopping hurt it
Ah people will get over it, GSP will get a pass because he's a nice guy.
Re: Things that annoy me about MMA
I'm trying hard to like MMA. I've been giving it the college try for about 2 years. I'm still rather bored most of the time.
I still don't enjoy the grappling.
I enjoy the striking when it is guys who are pretty good at that, but most of them don't seem good at it (my opinion). Too many wrestlers for me (even though they work hard at the stand up, it still looks rather forced and un-natural for them).

Jon Jones to me seems to be the best striker I have seen so far in MMA. He actually has boxing skills.captainanddew wrote:I'm trying hard to like MMA. I've been giving it the college try for about 2 years. I'm still rather bored most of the time.

That's just silly talk right there, most fans and media have either Silva or GSP 1 and 2.

Smaller fighters are usually more exciting. Jose Aldo didn't have a good performance coming off a long layoff and suffering from an illness the night of the fight. But go watch any of Aldo's other fights and tell me that isn't exciting.
What I don't get is why people go out of their way to bash a sport, are you being forced to watch it? Does the attention of the sport bother you that much? Not everybody is going to love everything out there. Plenty of MMA fans and fighters are very respectful of boxing. They are separate sports that shouldn't be compared against eachother. They are there to enjoy individually if you choose.
Of course there is a ton of ignorance out there, but that can be said about almost anything. Why do you personally choose to let that get to you?

So? That doesnt make it right. There are a ton of rankings that we dont agree with out there. Silva is not as good as GSP. Hell Silva might not be as good as Sonnen. I really do think that Silva has lost a few steps and is going to lose soon. I cant say the same about GSP. GSP is so dominant that I wont even buy his PPV's because I already know he is going to win. Plus he is pretty boring.Ali wrote:Soonermark890 wrote:No he isnt. I love MMA. IMO there are boring fighters in both sports. Floyd is pretty boring at times just like GSP.Deeznutz wrote:Smaller fighters are usually more exciting. You can say that about all sports. Some styles just aren't pleasing to watch. Some football teams aren't fun to watch, some baseball pitchers aren't fun to watch, might be effective just not pleasing to the eye.
I don't have any problem with people who don't like MMA, not everyone will. But why go out of your way to bash it just because it doesn't interest you, what is the real issue? I know some MMA fans are annoying, but that can be said about every sport. We are surrounded by morons, nothing we can do about that. I just don't know why it would offend you that a sport you don't like gets some attention. Seems like such a waste to let something you don't care about effect you. There is plenty of room for both sports.

UFC president Dana White, who was among the sellout crowd on Saturday night, believes boxing can survive. His organization is not in a competition with boxing, White said, and both fight sports can flourish.
"I think boxing and the UFC can coexist," White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) after the pay-per-view show. "I'm a big fight fan. When there's a good boxing match, I want to see it."
White wasn't the only prominent UFC official in attendance; co-owners Lorenzo Fertitta and Frank Fertitta were seated alongside him. It's no conflict of interest, the crew insisted. There's no competition between the UFC and "The Sweet Science."
"Hell, no," White said. "We don't look at it like we're in competition. People who are real fight fans are [expletive] fight fans, whether it's MMA or it's boxing."

That is the exact opposite of what he has said in the past isnt it? I am glad to hear him say those things though.Deeznutz wrote:http://mmajunkie.com/news/23531/white-still-a-boxing-fan-duboef-says-sport-can-benefit-from-ufc-mentality.mma
