He should keep active. Win a fight or two and then rematch Ishida. If he can get down to 154 he should do that.

I don't write a fighter off after a loss, but this kind of loss is not good at all. Ishida is not like some huge puncher.
And if Kirkland chin is that bad, no way he's going to amount to anything at the upper level

exactly. this isn't like Khan getting KTFO by Prescott who had a 95% KO ratio going into that fight, was significantly bigger than Khan and hit him with a monster shot....
the punch that landed on Kirkland's chin was nothing. also Kirkland was fighting at 158lb, so surely he should have been stronger than if he was boiling down to 154lb. like you've said, it's not like Ishida is a monster puncher, and that first knockdown took everything out of Kirkland and it seemed to be more of an arm punch than a knockout shot. i could knock Kirkland out after watching that.
it doesn't matter who he fights, he's been exposed and having a weak chin is something he can do nothing about. all the time he doesn't have the slick style to accomodate that weakness, and all the time he is a flat-footed come forward fighter, Kirkland is never going to be World class. mini- Tyson my mother's left reebok

In fairness to Kirkland he got caught with a perfect punch. It landed right on his chin as he was coming in and he didn't see it coming.

Dougie Fisher who called the PPV on one of the international feeds (and I believe saw Kirkland in training), said Kirkland struggled to make 158. Which makes no sense.

I think Kirkland lacks as much heart as he does chin. And that might be because this was the first time he realy got tested.
I just can not beleive he got hit so hard on that first KD that he couldn't survive the round.
Corrales had no chin, but tons of heart. He'd get KD'd and be on wobbly legs but would do all he could to survive.

Well he never recovered from the first punch = a weak ass chin. Then got dropped 2 other times. Come on man, I hate Kirkland but why are you questioning his heart? He hasn't given any reason for us to think he has no heart so far. He got knocked down three times and he kept getting up. Thats not much to go on but its all we have and based on that hes got heart.

I don't hate the guy. I just can't beleive he got his bell rung that bad by a cat with a 25% KO rate.
And the guy's Ishida did "KO" were total cans with 16-21, 0-6, 0-1, 10-8, records.

Actually a Winky fight down the road isn't a crazy idea, he's with Golden Boy isn't a huge puncher and is older than the condom Captain keeps in his wallet.
I should have been more aware of Kirkland's chin, he was dropped awhile back on a Shobx card I think against a journey men, so the writing has been on the wall for awhile.
