David Lemieux close to a HBO deal

Canadian middleweight knockout artist David Lemieux (25-0, 24KOs) could soon be appearing on HBO. During the recent Jean Pascal-Bernard Hopkins press tour, Lemieux's promoter, Yvon Michel of GYM, spoke with HBO about a possible long term agreement with the network. Lemieux will return on ESPN's Friday Night Fights in a WBC eliminator against veteran Marco Antonio Rubio (49-5-1) on April 8 at the Bell Centre. The winner is going to be in line to fight for the WBC crown, which is being contested on June 4 between champion Sebastian Zbik and challenger Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

"Negotiations are progressing with HBO about a possible long-term agreement with David Lemieux. I plan to return to New York in early May in order to move forward. I am confident of reaching an agreement before the end of May," Michel told Dan Cloutier. "Do I even need to tell you how there are very few boxers at 22-years-old who receive long-term contracts with HBO?"
