Batman Begins is good but it ain't in the same league as Shawshank or Private Ryan.

Bad Boys is an average movie.

You know a movie we forgot. The greatest war movie I have ever seen. Platoon. We could have made this thing a 128 movie tournament. I keep thinking of movies that were not on there.

Platoon-love the movie but not the greatest war movie ever.

It is a pretty good one. Can't beat the cast.

Willem Dafoe as Sgt Elias, Tom Berenger as Sgt. Barnes, Forrest Whitaker as Big Harold, the soldier that runs into a trip wire, Keith David as King, the soldier who says, "his girl didn't read too good no how." , Kevin Dillon as crazy ass "Bunny", Johnny Depp as Lerner the interpreter, John C. McGinley of Scrubs fame as Sgt. O'Neil, who hides under a dead Vietnamese guy during the final battle, and who don't forget, our boy, Duh, Winning, Charlie Sheen, as Chris (the dumb ass college kid who dropped out and volunteered).

great lines in the movie. Francesco Quinn plays Rhah. When Keith David, Charlie Sheen, Quinn, and a couple of others are talking about taking out Barnes because they thought he killed Elias, Quinn says, "he's been shot 7 times. 7 times.... you know what that means. He wasn't mean to die.... The only one that can kill Barnes is BARNES...." Then Berenger comes stumbling in with a bottle of jack, "what do you know about killing." Good stuff. Too bad Oliver Stone couldn't duplicate the quality of his early movies.

Shawshank is always on TNT. And when it is on, I usually watch, even though I've seen it a ton and own it on DVD. get busy living, or get busy dying.

there are so many great war movies

vietnam itself has 4 movies I love: apocalypse now, full metal jacket, platoon, the deer hunter. all so different, but each is powerful in its own way. Apocalypse now is just a disturbing journey. By the time the movie is over I feel like I've been through something. Brando, Sheen, Duvall, and Hopper make it worthwhile. Full Metal Jacket-if it was just basic training, it would be my favorite. That portion of the movie is a 100 out of 100. The rest of the movie is good, but a letdown after the beginning.

Deer Hunter is sick. Great cast when you have young Deniro, Walken, and meryl streep. Plus the immortal John Cazale.

John Cazale-the man had the best set of movies ever. Was in 5 movies. Fredo in godfather and godfather part II. Was in Dog Day Afternoon with Pacino. The Conversation with Hackman, etc... (also directed by Coppola). and the aforementioned Deer Hunter.

5 movies, all nominated for best picture.

not sure of my favorite all-time war movie, as it is too hard, but just for Vietnam movies I'd probably take the Deer Hunter.

I took a Vietnam class in college and we watched 3 of those movies. We didn't watch Deer Hunter. What surprised me the most was there were 3 Vietnam vets and all three said that Platoon was the most accurate to how things were.
