The IRS are at Floyd Mayweather's door again

Trouble continues to chase Floyd Mayweather Jr. The Internal Revenue Service is once again going after the unbeaten boxer for an unpaid sum of money. This time the IRS hit Mayweather with a near $3.4 million dollar tax bill. The amount is related to his earnings from 2009, when he came out of retirement to win a decision over Juan Manuel Marquez, and earned a reported $25 million. The IRS filed a lien for $3,359,279 against Mayweather with the Clark County (Las Vegas, Nevada) Recorder.

Not the first tax bill for Mayweather. A few years ago the IRS chased him down with a lien for $6,165,735. The fighter would later negotiate a payment plan.

He is an idiot.

As for the part about negotiating a payment plan that isn't entirely true. He ended up forking over 5.6 or 5.7 million. They probably agreed to waive some penalties while still requiring him to pay the tax and resulting interest.

I am confused as to why he does not make these payments. Interest and penalties get assessed on the taxes owed. Why not pay taxes when you have the money? Does Floyd not have the money????

I have an LLM in tax. I've been a licensed attorney for 7 years.

He has a CPA. The CPA can't make him pay it. I don't think Mayweather listens to anyone. People have been telling him he is the greatest for a long time. CPA says pay it. He probably says, I'm Money Mayweather, no one tells me what to do.

I love how he doesn't pay it. It isn't as if they won't be able to take it out of his purses. He can't prevent them from doing so.

Not the first athlete too dumb to handle Million's of dollars but come on PBF you have been down this road before, you make 25 million be happy with the 11-12 million after taxes and keep living life! But NO he wants to cash in all 25 million and probably spend 13-17 million of it in one year and is pissed cuz he has to pay his taxes off the top what a dumb ass.

he deserves every thing the irs does to him..you collect a check lets say 20 million.you pay your trainer the training expenses the cpa the management company up front.whats left over is your taxable income.for the sake of disgussion lets say thats 14 million.you immediately have the cpa cut a check for the irs there 36 percent.you end up with 9 big ones for yourself..as soon as you get paid you pay your obligations..so fuck floyd and any other fighter that gets in that position because theres no call for it.
