Another Jr. Middle? What would Angulo be paid this time around, and where would the fight be?

i thought Angulo vs Rhodes was going to purse bids with an April deadline??? Rhodes is being continuosly shafted by fighters stringing him along. Rhodes needs a fight and fast because this long period of inactivity aint doing him any good. the sad thing is that Rhodes is actually a decent fighter that belongs amongst the top guys in the division. maybe he is too high risk low reward. whatever the reason everybody is bailing out of fighting him

no.4 Ring ranked baby. just watch some of his fights Gomez. he aint a bad fighter at all and he would be a tough night for anybody at 154lb. he is a legitimate contender that has been overlooked because of his lack of profile. Angulo vs Rhodes was looking likely to happen because of Angulo's visa issues in the states. it has been widelky reported that the WBC had ordered purse bids to be carried out for this fight with a mid-April deadline. Rhodes wants a Margarito fight, he wants an Angulo fight in fact he pretty much wants any fight he can get at the moment. and Angulo vs Rhodes would be a GREAT fight.

As long as Martinez keeps active I'll be happy, but I won't hold my breath.

Last time Angulo was offered this fight he was also guaranteed a comeback fight on HBO, but he turned it down.

that's true. he was offered $750k...... that's a lot of money for a 20 fight pro with no real fanbase

i would not call fighting martinez a bail out..angulo-martinez man lets do it..hardcore there all middleweights get ride of that 154 pound division...make the dam fight in mexico before a massive crowd and hbo.the gate and tv then will assure martinez 2 million angulo at least a million or better.he can catch martinez and take him out but ill bet against that.martinez in a war for 6-7 rounds then takes him apart and stops him.inside 9.its a potential FOTY canidate..one promoter also.martinez has got some balls for sure...this is a fight that every dam boxing fan will watch.bring it on...lets hope this is not a testing of the waters trail ballon.i doubt it for dibellas a serious guy.

Sucks to be Rhodes. Lack of a big name that carries weight is keeping him from getting fights a top 5 ring ranked fighter should be able to get.

how can you beat the top guys in they won't fight you?? he's a seasoned pro, a real veteran. he was the youngest ever guy to win a British title way back ages ago. his only World Title challenge came at Middleweight, back in 1997, against Otis Grant when he was 21 and he lost by the narrowest of margins. then somehow he ended up fighting super-middleweights and got KO'd a couple of times not too far apart nearly 10 years ago now. his last loss he got robbed in Cardiff against Gary Lockett who then got ktfo by Pavlik. since then he went back down to 154lb and has looked a force since. his fight in 2009 against Jamie Moore (stopped Macklin in 10 in a thriller) was an absolute classic and i seriously recommend anybody to watch that fight. he had a WBC no.2 ranking after that and a title challenge for the winner of that contest was expected, but it never came. he's destroyed a couple of guys since then and has looked extremely good doing so. in fact flawlessly good. he really wants a big fight and he's been after it. it looked like he had that eventually in Angulo but who knows. anyway, go watch Ryan Rhodes vs Jamie Moore on Youtube because a true fight fan will really appreciate that tear up Wink

You're right. I hate '54. Gary Shaw promotes Angulo so ne prepared for him to fuck this up. Can Angulo fight in Argentina? Make the fight there and have a homecoming for Maravilla in front of tens of thousands.

boxing is full of moron promoters. I'd just put him out there against guys he'd beat that are decent (top 25-30) and continue to build his name in his homeland. Instead el perro has remained in the doghouse so to speak.

Jamie Moore was number 5 Ring ranked at the time. we're talking about 154lb division not 160lb. i'd love to see an Angulo vs Martinez fight even though they aint on the same level or in the same division. my point was that Angulo vs Rhodes was a fight being highly discussed, and it's a great fight to make at 154lb, but now they looking at putting an unproven 154lb fighter in with the Undisputed 160lb fighter in the World. i didn't discredit anything Sergio Martinez has achieved, i was just comparing the era of middleweights he is fighting in to that Tommy Hearns was fighting in as that was the topic of debate. we go on all the time about guys at the top of the division not fighting eachother and it's another example of it. Cotto fought Mayorga who wasn't top 10 ranked and he is meant to be a champion. alvarez fought Matthew Hatton for a version of the World title and neither were deserving. Cintron is at the top of 154lb but he just wants to fight Berto. why the fuck aren't these guys facing eachother. Angulo vs Rhodes would be a great fight for the division. Martinez vs Angulo is clutching because there is nobody at Middleweight decent to fight. Paul Williams was a guy nobody wanted to fight at Welterweight. If Martinez should be fighting anybody from 154lb it should be Margarito. Top 10 154lb division Ring rankings - Cintron, Angulo, Cotto, Rhodes, Powell, Foreman (Wolak), Martirosyan, Dzinziruk, Alvarez, Bundrage. then Margarito is there as well with a couple of others. why is it all Martinez opponents being mentioned are from 154lb? why is it the top 154lb fighters aren't fighting eachother. this is exactly what we all sit and bitch about on this site, top guys not fighting eachother, and guys fighting guys in smaller divisions. Martinez vs Angulo is a mismatch. why not Martinez vs Lemieux if Angulo vs Martinez is an acceptable fight???? why is it everyone being mentioned for the undisputed middleweight champion of the World to fight are in divisions below? Angulo vs Rhodes is a much more suitable and meaningful fight in my opinion
