Sports Phrases that you hate
1-Score the basketball
What the fuck else is a basketball player or team going to score? Why does an analyst say they have the ability to score the basketball????
All you have to say is the "ability to score".
We can assume "ability to score" isn't referring to a team or player's ability to score with the ladies.

I'm used to the Mets jokes. I know they suck.
I'm just glad i dont root for teams that have hype and then fail. Yankees and now the Knicks.

Hype and fail? I guess you mean like the Jets. The Knicks always suck, this new team is a great Eastern Conference Semi final team. Sure the Yankees are a hyped up team but they win and continue to do so. I see, you like teams that instead of trying just fail from the gate so there is no disappointment.

so true. What the hell else is he???
One thing that bothers me is when they take sports terms from one sport and use it in another.
early 90s pass from Grant hill to laetner against Kentucky. that kind of long pass is not a baseball pass. There is no such thing!!!!
A football team can't run a fast break offense (which I have heard).
A corner in football doesn't box out the wide receiver.

Meaningless to contrived stats like:
He was the second quarterback since 1970 to complete less than 30 percent of his passes and throw four interceptions in a victory.
He was the second pitcher in the last 83 years to win 13 more games than he lost for a team finishing 13 games or worse under .500
What the fuck!!

The sad thing, some guy is pouring over stats all day to come up with that.

Athleticism
On Any Given Sunday
Did you see that dunk?(He's 6'7" for crying out loud, glad he can reach the rim)Too bad his fundamentals stink.
Our opponent will come to play(Isn't that what they get paid to do?)
We're not looking past this game(even when a team like Nebraska is playing Prairie View)

At the end of the day. The guys on espn love that shitty phrase.
There is no difference at the "end of the day" and the "beginning of the day" or any other time of day. If something is a certain way, don't insert that shitty phrase.
Everytime someone in real life uses the phrase, "at the end of the day", I stop and say, don't you mean "at the beginning of the day", since neither mean a damn thing.

I don't mind the phrases, and a lot of them make sense. Hardcore, how do you hate "walk off"?
My favorite is "he's standing on his head out there" for hockey goalies.

When it's in reference to anything other than a home run to end the game. Like a "walkoff" sac fly I don't like. Just call it a game winning RBI.

Gotcha. What about in other sports like when Desean Jackson beat the Giants on that punt return?hardcorebee24 wrote:Gumby wrote:I don't mind the phrases, and a lot of them make sense. Hardcore, how do you hate "walk off"?
