Ryan Rhodes to fight Alfredo Angulo

David Coldwell has revealed through Twitter that Ryan Rhodes is to contest a WBC light-middleweight eliminator against tough Mexican Alfredo Angulo.

Rhodes, the former British light-middleweight champion, has been waiting since 2008 for his shot at the belt.

He unanimously outpointed Vincent Vuma at the O2 Arena for the WBC International light-middleweight title.

His trainer Coldwell recently voiced his discontent at the fact Matthew Hatton and Saul Alvarez will be duelling for the light-middleweight strap, despite the fact they are classed as welterweights.

He said: “This is boxing politics at its worst.

“Last time the 154lb WBC title was fought for, one boxer weighed 150lb and the other 144lb.

“Now two boxers are fighting that have never weighed more than 150lb and are really welterweights.

“The WBC, one of the most well regarded bodies in boxing, is doing the sport no favours.”

Coldwell posted on Twitter: “WBC confirm that Ryan Rhodes will face Alfredo Angulo in Final Eliminator – purse bids due April 1st... GET IN!”

Come on. Especialy if it's Angulo. Sure, the fight be HUGE in Mexico, but Angulo would ruin The Ginger. Ginger Boy is too fucking slow.

Cintron already spanked Angulo, so doubt GB wants Angulo to have any part of Cintron. Which sucks, because rematch be for The Ring belt.

In the first fight, Cotto was landing bombs for 5 rounds. Cheato did like Rios did on Saturday night and walked through them and walked down Cotto.

Can a guy take shots from Cotto, Cintron, Clottey, and PW, with his face, then get KO'd by Mosley, and beatdown badly by Pac, and be the same fighter. Somewhere the brain has to have gotten scrambled a bit.

Angulo is going to run through Rhodes. Angulo would run through everyone in the division besides Cintron obviously, SD, maybe Vanes and Lara. Angulo would Kill Canelo, Cotto, Chavez Jr. Angulo vs Kirkland vs Williams would be great match ups, but Kirkland and Williams arent factors in the divion until maybe next year. That WBC 154 belt is just the whore title, everyone is holding it. Forrest pussed out of the Martinez fight and when Martinez won it no one wanted to fight him for it. Pacquiao held it for a day and Canelo might do the same. No way does Canelo hold it for very long, especially if Angulo becomes his madatory lol

Clottey was actualy spanking MargoCheato before he busted his hand.

If Clottey actualy let his damn hands go, I could see him beating Cintron, and definitly Margs, who's damaged goods, especialy without his bricks in his gloves

This fight won't happen, Angulo has been AWOL since the visa issue exploded and he's been ignoring Gary Shaw's calls.

Rhodes vs Vanes would be a much easier fight to make.
