I want to know why Showtime just doesn't use The Ring rankings and belts like ESPN does.

With all ABC belts, this would help confused casual fans on who the real top fighters and champs are.

Thanks for your time

Dear Grant

Thank you for contacting us about Showtime Sports. It is my understanding that the fighters featured on Showtime are fighting for various Championship Belts (Titles), and there are several recognized federations that hold the championship-sanctioned fights for them.

Your comments and questions have been passed on to the appropriate parties within our organization.

Huh

Wonder who makes the final call? Promoter or the network?

Promoters, obviously

Gary Shaw to Ken Hershman, "Hey, why aren't you recognzing my bum fighter as World Champion? What is this. He's a world Champion because he's got the respected WBO Asian-PAcific-Korean-Fat-Ass-Dime Crusted Lightweight belt"

Cant remember exactly but I think Shaw and Herschman are in laws

Why you see favoritism from them

And to be fair, Shaw helped Showtime put on FOTY type fights. And I don't see any real direct favortism with Shaw on Showtime like with Golden Boy.

They don't give Shaw or any promoter given dates. It's a fight-by-fight basis, and why Showtime is superior.

no doubt, they throw him a bone once in awhile and not even close to what HBO has done in past few years

Yeah, but when they throw him a bone, not 2 million bucks for a bum fight like HBO does with GB.

A bone to Showtime is probably 200k for a fight

I realy can't wait to see how much HBO going to over-pay for Hops-Pascal II over what Showtime paid for the first fight.

Hauser's going to have a field day with that.

I think Mr. Twinkie's quick blog on it said 2.5-3 million for the fight. I don't know what they got paid for the first fight, but it wasn't 2.5 million. If Mr. Twinkie is on point (he usually gets pretty good info because no one wants to piss off the behemoth that is ESPN), then HBO is overpaying for this fight and haven't learned their lesson.

Grant's turning into Andy Kaufman from Shawshank Redemption, he'll send thousands of emails and letters to the networks until they cave in and recognize the Ring Belt.

Showtime paid at least 2 million for Pascal/Hopkins 1. I read that at the time of the fight.

Reminds me of the time I e-mailed Golden Boy (I sent an e-mail to every address that was listed on their site). I sent a mean e-mail about the Juan Diaz vs. Paulie Malignaggi decision in their first fight. They actually sent a long and detailed response (probably the same to everyone who e-mailed them), but I was happy that they responded.

Grant whats the e-mail address you used to get in touch with them? I need to put my request into them for no Gus Johnson. He could turn me from buying it to watching it by other means.

Leave Gus Johnson alone, his over the top reactions make my day.

I'm sure Strikeforce tomorrow night will give me my fill of Gus for the rest of the year. And I'm sure I'll hear enough of him during March Madness.

I am praying Gus gets to do Pac vs Mosley, he'll have a heart attack commentating Pac's greatness.
