Calderon vs Segura II in talks for March/April

The president of the PR Best Boxing, Ivan Rivera, did not rule out a rematch between Giovanni Segura, the current 108-pound champion of the WBO, and Ivan Calderon. Segura who snatched the belt and Calderon's undefeated record in August. The rematch could even take place in Mexico.

"We want a rematch and we are discussing this with Fernando Beltran of Zanfer. Puerto Rico is a possibility and the other location is Mexico. We have no problems in going further. We understand that it would be something very exciting. If in Mexico, it would be good. We are in the process and that is a possibility that is not being ruled out. We're talking about the end of March or the first week of April," he said.

He said they received an offer from the Zanfer and are in the process of submitting a counter-offer.

"But there is a strong possibility that it may be made here in Puerto Rico, " he said.

Pointless rematch, hopefully Calderon is just using it to build a pension fund.

it will be a repeat of the first fight. Segura will be too fresh and hungry for an aging Calderon. not many little guys have careers at the top as long as Calderon has, this was always going to happen. it's a shame because Calderon was a very fine little fighter, it's a shame that he was alone in that respect and it's a shame that nobody really cares about the little guys. poor Ivan Sad

Segura should look else where, Gonzalez would be a cracking fight. Calderon has been on a bit of a slide for a while.

I think Calderon has earned a rematch based on the body of his work in his career. This one & done thing is bullshit. If Segura KO's him again (which I feel he will) then Calderon can lay it to rest.
