Vanes chooses inactivity over Top Rank Live Main Event
http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/martirosyan-off-feb-5th-card-72868
WBO #1 super welterweight Vanes Martirosyan (28-0, 17 KOs) is off the February 5th Top Rank LIVE card at the Activities Center in Maywood, California. Martirosyan was scheduled for an eight-rounder, but no suitable opponent could be found. Manager Steve Fader told Fightnews.com that Vanes will work one-on-one with trainer Freddie Roach for two solid weeks and be ready for a bout in March.
The February main event will feature a ten-rounder between super middleweights Francisco Sierra (23-3, 21 KOs) and Carlos DeLeon (21-3-2, 14 KOs). Also unbeaten heavyweight Andy Ruiz (7-0, 5 KOs) will see action.

Ask Top Rank's matchmakers, Vanes has been itching for the chance to fight anyone of note.

Well the last time he was on a Top Rank card live he got dropped and almost (should of) lost to Ouma. Vanes is another fighter sitting around waiting for a big fight, instead of trying to earn one. This douche should fight Lara, but then again he wont because he knows Lara would knock him out.

Re: Vanes chooses inactivity over Top Rank Live Main Event
“It’s unfortunate, but Vanes is off of the card on the February 5th,” said Steven Fader, Martirosyan’s manager since November. “We were scheduled to fight J.C. Candelo in a 10 round bout, but he backed out of the fight.”
For Martirosyan to stay on the card, the search was on for a suitable opponent. However, when the only suitable opponents would fight in approved eight round fights, Fader decided that it was not in Martirosyan’s best interests to fight on the February 5th.
“Vanes has 28 professional fights and ranked very high in the sanctioning bodies. It did not make sense for Vanes to fight in an eight round fight, when he has already reached a level where he should fight in 10 and 12 round fights.”
Another factor for Martirosyan not fighting on the card was Freddie Roach unavailable to train him full time. Roach has been in Mexico with Julio Cesar Chavez in recent days as Chavez prepares to fight Billy Lyell this Saturday night.
When Roach returns from Mexico to the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, where Martirosyan trains out of, Fader wants his fighter to train as much as he can to be ready by early March.
“I want Vanes to have at least two solid weeks with Freddie. From there, I’d be comfortable to then work on a fight for Vanes. He wants to get back in the ring. With the victory we had over Joe Greene, Vanes should have had another fight. But, now we’re working to get him a fight or two, and then fight for a world title.”

Is it really worth Vanes time to take an eight rounder against a nobody and not have a good period of training from Roach ?
