If the guys I train with are able to make weight for amateur BJJ tourneys, while working full-time jobs, there should be no excuse why any of these guys can't make weight.

they cant make weight because of night before weigh ins. they have an idea in their head that they can keep getting down to a lower weight. i seriously think that fighters should be severely punished for missing weight. maybe if you are less than a pound over nothing happens but for every pound you should get fined or suspended for a time.

The problem is they are cutting too much weight. Just about every fighter these days fights a full class or even two below where they should. With the advantages that come with fighting a guy smaller than you though, I dont see an easy solution if they wont make same day weigh-ins mandatory.
