hes a hall of famer.he had about 290 fights.he won over 250 if you include 31 newpaper descions.he had the knockout record of 127 before archie moore broke it.he was stoped only once by max schmeling but after at least 270 fights.he beat 5 hall of famers.he lost only 13 times.his last fight he beat maxie rosenbloom and at 29 died from a motorcycle accident going to the hospital to visit his wife and newborn child.
he was only 29 and still was fighting when that happened..dam how insane is that.again went over 270 fights without being koed.127 kos and over 250 wins.jezz unreal.

dmar, thanks a mil for the post. My only experience with Stribling comes from boxing almanacs. I'm looking forward to doing research on him. Thanks again.

Fighters are definitly less active today. But also, it was a different time. Most old school fighters learned in the pros not in the AMs. So they'd start out at a young age in the pros and built themselves up.

Today, a lot of fighters have got a 100 plus fights in the AMs before going pro. Gamboa got 250 fights in the AMs.

Why I've always ranted on how the AMs are ruining fighters today and am glad that after this Olympics they will make it more pro style scoring.

it would be nice if more pros could learn in the pros like they used to. it makes things better IMO.
