Re: Pacquiao vs Marquez III -- Weigh In
We've been over Bradley's situation ad nauseum. Its his choice to lose fans, miss out on 1.5+ mil, and get caught up in a legal battle instead of taking a big fight to advance his career.

Why should I support a fighter that talked nothing but mad shit about Khan ducking him and then is the one that bitched out of the fight.
That's a straight up Flod move
Nobody said anything about supporting him, you just rip him for doing it. Fight didnt happen, it still could, root for Casa, and move on.

couple of pounds max. We'll see. He was ripped and ready and weighed 145 a year ago against Katsidis.
Yes, I ignore what they weigh in at. Dehydrating and not eating alot for a few days and then eating regularly for 24 hours and rehydrating means nothing to me.
They will both weigh between 146- 149 when they get in there to fight.

Re: Pacquiao vs Marquez III -- Weigh In
when is the last welterweight title fight that both fighters weighed that far below the limit?

wow, that is a good trivia question. No idea.
Marquez is a lightweight and Pac is a junior welter fighting at welter. Pac isn't even a big junior welter.
When Bradley had his 1 fight at 147. he weighed in at 147 and weighed 155 or 156 pounds in the ring the next night and he still looked as if there wasn't any fat on him.
Alexander and Kahn are moving up to 147 (Alexander now and Kahn after the Peterson fight or maybe 1 more fight) and both of those guys will weigh in near 147 and then weigh in the mid 150s in the ring.
Pac is still smaller than basically all of the elite junior welters when he gets into the ring to fight.

in fact ill bet all of barneys welter fights he barely weighed over the jr welter division weight.sometimes less.barney outgrew the lighweight division and won the jr welter title and litterly stayed at that class.please bare in mind these were the days of the same day weight inns.today a feather weighs fight night as much as barney did fight day fighting at welterweight.

Armstrong was out of this world, the fact Henry almost held four lineal titles at the same time is amazing.

Prescott, Alvarado, Casamayor and Bradley, 4"junior welters" will weigh more than the 2 "welterweights" in the ring tonight.

Re: Pacquiao vs Marquez III -- Weigh In
Freddie Roach had told Ring that he was suprised that Marquez added muscle to come up in weight.
Freddie you are a great trainer but Marquez didn't really bulk up very much.
Marquez fought Floyd and I believe he weighed in at 142 and weighed 148 pounds in the ring. That was September of 2 years ago. He looked slow and fat. He had been weighing only about 143 pounds in his first couple fights at LW (in the ring) and he basically added 5 pounds of fat to his frame to face Floyd (and it showed a little bit)
Now he weighs in at 142 again, and probably weighs around the same, 148 or so pounds in the ring.
Marquez does look more ripped at 142 this time, but it makes sense. he wasn't weighing 143 pounds in his last couple of fights at 135. He was going into the ring at 145.
And when he weighs around 148 or so tonight, he will have 3-4 pounds of muscle to his frame over the last couple years. Not alot. But he should have naturally added some muscle over his last few training camps (where he didn't have to dehydrate and not eat to make 135 anymore). It is hard to add muscle to your frame when you are cutting your calories and then dehydrating yourself at the end. To make 135, he may have been cutting some muscle.
Just like Pac didn't really bulk up to fight at welterweight. Pac weighed 145 when he fought Marquez the last time (after weighing in at 130). Since he doesn't have to limit his calories he added a few pounds of muscle.
