i have mixed feelings about this. i mean spiderman 3 was terrible but i think its just too soon to reboot this series. marvel should have waited on this.

Yeah. Spider-Man 3 wasn't great. But the movie made 890 million dollars world wide. So not like it was even close to a bomb that they had to re-boot the entire franchise.

And WTF is up with POV first person scene? It looks as terrible as that scene that did in DOOM

I don't like rebooting series so fast either. The other series is fresh in people's minds and will hurt the new series. Plus everytime they reboot a series the first movie must retell the beginning which someone wastes half a movie IMO. We all know he is a dorky guy whom is bitten by a spider leading to super powers yet 40 mins of the movie will be dedicated to it.

Not really feeling this, and yeah the POV scenes look like a video game.

I just don't get the logic behind reboot a series when the last Spider-Man made 890 million worldwode.

Yeah, Spider-MAn 3 wasn't the best, but they could continued on. Shit, there were some bad Bond movies, but didn't reboot everytime there was. The only reason why they did reboot the series was because MGM got the rights to Casinio Royal, which they'd been trying to get for decades.

They had to reboot the franchise after Raimi, McGuire and Dunst left.

Grant this is 2011, Connery left Bond when my dad was going through puberty.

As if Sony would just let a massive franchise like Spiderman sit on the shelf, this is a money business.

Who was talking about letting it sit on the shelf? When Connory left, MGM continued on with Bond two years later with Roger Moore as Bond in Live and Let Die. And Live and Let Die was not a reboot! Nor did they reboot it when Moore left and Dalton took over. Nor did they reboot it when Brosnan took over.

Comic book characters have been and will be rebooted for many years, it's not a simple serious you can continue with like Bond.

Yeah, sure. Face it, rebooting has been the trend. Reboot is just another name for remake. My favorite is when studio and director call it "A re-imagining."

I watched the first 2 in the theatre. I skipped the 3rd until DVD

I probably won't watch the new one unless people tell me it is amazing.

If the previous series sucked entirely and a new attempt was being made to bring the source material to life in a proper manner then it would be different. But the series was pretty darn good overall.

3rd spiderman sucked big time. how do fuck do you give venom 10 minutes and then you give sandman 2 hours is beyond me.
spiderman 3 should have been all about venom and then to top it off the had some scrawny nerd as eddie brock who in the comic books was a pretty big guy.

That was Sony's fault. They demanded Venom be in the movie, even though Raimi didn't care for Venom. You'd think after giving them two massively successful Spider-Man movies, they'd let Raimi do his thing. Be like WB demanding Nolan have Robin in the next Batman movie, even though Nolan flat out has said he will never have Robin.

Still, they could just ignored Spider-MAn 3 with a new actor and done a fresh story, instead rehash of of his origins.

I'm cool with this, but that first person part was terrible. I hope thats the only bad part of the movie.

Hopefully the POV was just a rushed scene to fill up the trailer. The movie isn't out till next summer so they've got time to can that idea.

From what I gather the Sony execs were very impressed with Marc's talent and potential. Every director needs to start somewhere.
