Khan vs Mayweather in 2012, I TOLD YOU SO !!!
A MEGABUCKS showdown between Amir Khan and Floyd Mayweather moved a step nearer last night.
The head of the Golden Boy promotional team revealed that Floyd Mayweather has been talking to them about a clash with Amir Khan next year.
Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy, said: “Yes, Floyd has told me he is very interested in meeting Amir in the ring next year.”
It’s a bout that could see the fighters receiving around £20m in prize money for a battle that would generate worldwide interest.
WBA world light-welterweight champ Khan fights IBF belt holder Zab Judah at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on July 23.
But plans are in progress for a bout with 34-year-old Mayweather, the five-division world champion who has won 10 world titles.
The American superstar has won all of his 41 bouts and will next meet Victor Ortiz in a defence of his WBC belt in September.
There is then a growing possibility that he will finally lock horns with WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao next spring before an autumn clash with Khan.
Schaefer, whose company promotes both Khan and Mayweather, said: “It is all very encouraging with Floyd ready to go, as well as Amir.
“Obviously, a lot depends on how Amir goes on against Judah and how Floyd fights against Ortiz, but everything is pointing the right way.
“The plan would be for Amir to have another fight in December, in the US again, possibly against the four-times world champion Erik Morales.
“He could then perhaps have a big UK battle, possibly against another Brit, Kell Brook, before moving on to face Mayweather.”
But Schaefer warned that Khan has plenty of work to do against the 33-year-old Judah, who has won 41 of his 47 pro fights.
He said: “Make no mistake, Zab is as dangerous as any opponent can be and is working really well under his new trainer Pernell Whitaker.
“Zab knows that if he loses this fight it is the end of his career and that means he will be a real opponent for Amir.”
But Schaefer believes Khan, 24, should overcome his experienced opponent.
He said: “Amir is showing real commitment in every aspect of the work he is doing and has the skill and will to win that are so vital.”
Schaefer, whose company co-promotes David Haye, has urged the Brit not to give up following his defeat by Wladimir Klitschko.
He said: “I was disappointed by his performance in Hamburg and, whether or not is was his broken toe, he didn’t fight as normal.
“But he shouldn’t rush into any decision over retirement.”

Khan beats Judah, Floyd beats Ortiz, Manny refuses to do drug testing and share a 50/50 split = Mayweather vs Khan next Cinco De Mayo.

So it'll be three Jr Welters at Welter, one Lightweight at Welter and an old Mosley as his last 5 fights? Not exactly shining up the resume' now is he?

Khan looking to floyd? Doubt Floyd will want to fight him after he loses to Judah, but who knows. Like they say, if it makes dollars, it makes sense.

The welterweight division isn't exactly drenched in talent at the moment.
