Pac offered $65 mill to face Canelo ??
A Philippine news source is reporting that Manny Pacquiao has been offered $65 million by a Mexican billionaire to fight undefeated Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in Mexico.
The Philippine Inquirer reported Sunday that the sum is being dangled by Carlos Slim, one of the world's wealthiest men, and that Pacquiao's people are considering the fight.
According to an Inquirer article by Gil C. Cabacungan, the source of the information was Illocos Sur Gov. Luis "Chavit" Singson, a longtime Pacquiao confidante, who said Pacquiao is interested in the guaranteed money.
Alvarez, just 21 years old, has a 36-0-1 record, with 26 knockouts, and holds the WBC 154-pound title belt, which he is scheduled to defend against Briatian's Ryan Rhodes on June 18 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Pacquiao has fought more than a dozen Mexican fighters since 2005, including Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez, earning the nickname "The Mexicutioner."
Slim's offer emerged after Floyd Mayweather Jr. reportedly turned down the same amount of money to fight Pacquiao.

I would snatch that if I were him. Alvarez was wobbled by Cotto's brother.

I don't beleive this shit for a second. Ginger Boy has no fucking chance right now at beating Pac. Zero. He'd get his ass kicked so bad it would ruin his career. GB wouldn't allow it. No way.

So the Billionaire is offering 65 million as a site fee? Or HE is paying Pac 65 million to fight in Mexico and against the kid?

How much is he offering Canelo? If Canelo could make anywhere near that he should take it too. That's once in a lifetime money. Alot can happen in boxing.

It won't be 65 million, that's for sure. Unless this guy wants to drop over 100 mill for a slaughter.

Alvarez would possibly take the fight for $ 5 million I'm guessing.

Alvarez would probably take for a couple million, it's a risk worth taking for him.
Canelo's only 20 and he's a natural Jr Middleweight, if the fights above Welterweight it could get interesting.

I don't yet believe this rumour, just like I didn't believe the nonsense rumour that Jerry Jones was giving Pac a $50 mill site fee(I was right). But.......
If some billionaire offers a $65 million site fee, it would be a perfect opportunity to put the fight on free over-the-air network TV. That would turn PacBoy in to an even larger international celebrity. Let's break it down:
65 million pot.
- $5 million package to Alvarez' side for him to pay his management/GBP with.
- even if Pac has a terrible deal with Arum (probable) Arum gets %15, or $9 million.
- $2 million flat fee to Roach
- $1 million for secondary trainers and camp expenses
- $1 million petty cash to fund security, entourage, deadbeat cousins with undefined jobs, girlfriends, scoundrels-at-large, and other assorted hangers-on.
That leaves $46 million for Manny to feast on before his inevitable future bankruptcy. That is without any TV money.
Of course Arum would only be able to see the potential to bank another gaudy amount of money before he reaches his mortal expiration date in the months ahead. Top Rank would probably put the fight on a $70 PPV. Future of the sport be damned.

Reports that Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim offered Manny Pacquiao $65 million to fight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez are false, according to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, Alvarez’s promoter.
The Philippine Inquirer apparently was the first to report the purported offer.
“I have a nice relationship with the Slim people and I talked directly to Mr. Slim. It’s not true,” Schaefer said.
The source of the information was Illocos Sur Gov. Luis "Chavit" Singson, a longtime Pacquiao confidante, according to the Inquirer.
Pacquiao is scheduled to fight Juan Manuel Marquez on Nov. 12 in Las Vegas. Alvarez is set to face Ryan Rhodes on June 18 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
